  • Probably a Wasgij! They're awesome! Sometimes it's like you described, sometimes the box cover is people reacting to the scene you have to put together in the puzzle, sometimes you uncover a mystery. I have like 10 of these, they're my favorite vacation pastime if I'm not traveling or something.

  • Montrealer here, I just got back from my first trip to NYC, maybe I went to the wrong places but these people were all sweet and soft spoken, maybe not chatty in particular but far from rude and all the other shit I've heard about New Yorkers. I and my fellow Canadians are definitely more rude and loud than this.

I saw an old meme from the second world war that described people from different countries and Canadians were described as hot headed and I can definitely see that image when compared to the Americans I've met in American cities.

  • This is true and also not true. We've thrown away cow hides and sheep skins/wool for lack of demand, but I also know the wool industry and they're not exactly chomping at the bit to get their hands on the garbage wool slaughterhouses (or in our case small/medium farms) produce. There are producers who raised sheep just for high quality wool whose meat you wouldn't really want to eat..

  • Yeah if you're flexible (I get it now) you can totally get free meat on the regular. Plus my dad goes on Costco runs and just gives me spare meat. I haven't really had to buy any in a while and like you don't really notice when I don't have any for weeks. The real thing for me is the odd hotdog or whatever craving, that's when I actively seek it out.

  • I have never found, for the same amount of prep, domestic machine espresso to be as good as commercial machine espresso. The difference between the machines, having worked with both, is just too massive.

At home I do pour over or Aeropress for cold coffees in the summer as they produce what I think is the best coffee for effort and price.

  • First generation montrealer here of Italian descent: that sauce is a bastardized Greek meat sauce, there is nothing remotely spaghetti or Italian about it.

I actually love Italian poutine for what it is, but I would never put that sauce on spaghetti or call a sauce that routinely contains cinnamon and oregano an Italian sauce.
