  • I made the mistake of purchasing a movie advertised as 4k on YouTube once. They wouldn't let me view it higher than 480p on my PC. They also had the audacity to claim it was because too many people were streaming during COVID. Never ever again.

  • No, apparently Overdrive offers digital delivery of movies now as well as books. I haven't tried it yet, though, but they have been great for checking out library books on my phone.

  • But we won't serve it to you in the full resolution unless you use our approved devices.

  • Trying to plug a DP cable in there with a hammer is about the only real explanation I can think of for this kind of damage. I've seen and repaired some gnarly receptacle damage before but never anything that deformed the metal and surrounding plastic like this.

  • That isn't a Lemmy thing, but a morning people thing. I've seen it all over.

  • And also under Intuit headquarters.

  • We're also using phobia to refer to irrational hatred now, apparently, so that could be more common.

  • I also hate people acting like the starship test wasn't a great success. They're building a factory to build rockets and testing the output of this factory in incremental stages. The next one will go further and the one after that might even land. There's always the off-chance it'll just work on the first try, but it's never expected.

  • Yeah, it's plain to see that engagement is steadily climbing. The top posts keep getting higher and higher numbers and new, interesting communities keep popping up.

  • I've been very impressed by Aldi lately.

  • Yeah, but if you're familiar with complex numbers, you also will have or know how to get a better calculator.

  • It's easy to get these confused when every example of national communism has resulted in a totalitarian state.

  • Oh wow, that's a nice touch. I love when devs do things like this to amuse themselves.

  • The "deli style" American cheese is far superior, anyway.

  • Yeah because dieselgate was a travesty and all companies have a moral obligation to find ways around the idiocy of the US EPA as they actively make our cars more harmful to the environment by writing poorly thought out rules that encourage larger vehicles as well as completely failing to understand how to calculate diesel emissions for vehicles in a sensible manner.

  • Sounds like typical politicians.

  • I came here to find out and now I'm going with: "nothing."

  • Yeah, I just realized what they intend and am thinking the same thing. It sounds like they intend a closed rail network between the ports to eliminate things like customs, but it's still gonna take at least a day of processing on each end of that.

I feel like a canal between Ranong and Chumphon wouldn't be too bad at around 27mi (43km).
