I have a pair of Keen hiking boots (you know the ones...you've seen them I promise) that I've had for literally ten years. I'm sure they'd have more wear on them if I did serious hiking more often, but they are glued to my feet every rainy season and are still going strong to the point that I see no signs of failure anywhere. I oil and condition the leather once per year before the wet season.
Also, raw denim jeans. They take longer to break in but I've had a pair that's been with me six or seven years now through 30 lb swings. I've had them tailored twice, and they are still one of my nicest looking most comfortable pairs of jeans.
Uprooted is a legitimately fantastic fantasy book but it is absolutely not even remotely sci-fi. Annihilation is...fine. Honestly I was kind of let down after the movie generated all the (brief) hype and it left me not caring about the next books enough to bother. American Gods is American Gods, if you know you know. I think I read one of two others on the list but forgot what they are.
Kind of surprised piranesi didn't make the list tbh. Legitimately terrific blend of sci-fi fantasy and mystery. Not a hard/long read but well worth the time!
I like both so I use one for one account, and one for my other account! I use both pretty equally so it balances out.
Also for those that don't know, the tracking thing is a requirement for listing on Google plays ad network, and goes away completely if you pay to remove ads ($3.50, one time, ads removed forever).
It's actually got a soft padding inside the clip and a hollow sort of "bridge" area specifically to avoid that. Sometimes the bottoms get phantom pushed when you're putting your phone in but once it's secure it doesn't actually put pressure on them if the buttons are up top. The bottom is flat so you want to avoid using it with them oriented down. A case helps too as it adds even more resistance to button presses. I used it on my pixel 6 and now on my 7pro and have no issues. Many many hours of dead cells in the books.
8bitdo also makes a small version of the SN30 that's "Xbox" branded specifically for mobile gaming and has the Xbox buttons and layout. That version has a clip with an even more pronounced hollow for buttons on both sides. I REALLY like that clip, it's much more convenient for travelling but I find my hand cramps when I use that smaller controller so i only take it for trips if I absolutely can't make room for the bigger controller.
8bitdo SN30+ with the phone attachment clip. Best third party controller for damn near everything, not just mobile. I use it for desktop and mobile, I take it with me when traveling, it rules.
It's annoying they don't have a footnote about it, but it's the map of the 25 "states" that have agreed to do what the headline says/form the coalition. I put states in quotes because it includes Guam, which is a territory not a state, so the headline is a little misleading.
A lot of these are kinda on the negative side (no judgement!), so I'll add a positive one. I met this girl, we started dating and we had been in that weird phase where like it wasn't exclusive but it felt like it was but it wasn't explicitly said you know? Anyways, I had these plans to go on a trip with a couple friends and some friends of friends and that same week me and the girl talked and decided it was official, nobody is dating anyone else, we're together/a thing/official.
Fast forward to that trip, and I meet this girl, I know nothing about her but she's cute and she's into me. We all get drunk around a camp fire, me and this girl go for a walk, and it's about as obvious as it's ever going to be this girl wants to hook up and I have the green light and I'm about to go for it. So I'm about to and then I remember...I shouldn't. I'm not single anymore. It doesn't matter if it's new it matters to me, I really like the girl I'm dating, we have a good thing going and it's dumb to risk fucking that up for some girl I just met. So I don't. I say I'm sorry I'm drunk and should go to bed and that's the end of that. We were cordial the rest of the weekend and I've never talked to or seen her again.
It's eight years later and that girl i liked is my wife of close to four years and we're just hanging out being boring together and I've never been happier.
Put a lamp on your nightstand, it's a fucking game changer. We have a ceiling fan with the main lights, but lamps on both nightstands. It rules, always within arm reach, light immediately if you need it, but much softer light than the main light, and not pointed into your eyes when you lay down.
All good in theory but the problem is that you have to get the branch of the government manipulating said system to agree to vote themselves out and thereby reduce their power.
