  • It's a good time -- in terms of character dynamics it's very similar to other Loren Bouchard shows (Bob's Burgers, The Great North). It's a surprisingly good musical most of the time too with a great cast. You'll hear some hints of homages but the music is made up of original songs and performed very well by the actors.

If you liked Hamilton then it's definitely worth at least checking out since the lead character is played by Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr in Hamilton) and Daveed Diggs is a main character (Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton).

Basically if you enjoy Bob's Burgers, Hamilton or musicals in general, then it's worth taking a look at. Fair warning, most agree that it starts out incredibly rough and only starts getting good about halfway through the first episode. I'd been warned about it but still wasn't prepared for how much of a slog it was to get through the first 12 minutes or so. But, as soon as the song Own It kicks in about halfway through, everything else starts to follow and it's a good time from there. A nice show to have in your watchlist for times when you need something less than 30 minutes, a fun thing to zone out to or have had too long of a day to pay attention to that complex thriller drama you're watching.

  • I just binged the show Central Park on Apple TV+. After seeing it animated in Loren Bouchard's style for so many episodes, seeing this shot of it makes me realize how good of a job they did drawing the view of it from Bitsy's high-rise.

  • If they get the same kind of freedom that Andor was given I've got high hopes. Since he's a fan and they've worked together as brothers making delightfully weird stuff on Atlanta I'm actually pretty excited to see what they'll do.

  • I don’t mean that kind of love

Guy is about to hook up with a Rodian in Mos Eisley. His buddy starts explaining how Rodian parts "work" but gets stopped abrubtly.

"I know what I'm doing. This ain't my first Rodian."

  • You bring up a good point and I didn't realize the entire show was going to be leaving Max in August which definitely suggests the movie won't ever stream on there. Normally I'd see if I have enough rental rewards credits saved up for it but it's only available to buy and I still have to schedule a stupid phone call to reactivate my apple ID before I can even purchase anything anyway. So...

  • Oof okay if they're taking Venture Bros. off the streaming service entirely next month that definitely explains why the movie won't end up on there. Thanks for the heads up, at least this way I won't be endlessly waiting for it to drop.

  • I was looking for this on the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max but double checked again and it's still not up. I think I misinterpreted the digital streaming release date as a Max release when it's really just the release where you can pay to digitally rent it?

Is it actually on Max or did you have to pay to rent it?
