  • I'm not as bad about shopping for winter clothes as I used to be. I mostly wear thrift store clothes, but I do have an Aran Crafts knit wool coat that is fairly old fashioned. I got it used on Ebay, but it's still pretty magical. I need more long, warm skirts, but they can be hard to find in cute colors or designs.

  • The war in Ukraine proves that farm equipment can and will be converted to war machines during times of crisis. Irreparable tractors will leave our boys in the heartland unable to adequately defend themselves in a land war! We need national security arguments for more things. Our overseas presence is strong, but our homeland is a mess.

  • Port que no los dos? I want multiple partners and knives.

  • Sometimes summer is just sundress and go xx I can see dresses in my closet from here. Most of them are parked there until spring ;;

  • Tbh gaming as a whole. I'm 34, and I've played video games basically my whole life. When I was young, it was a niche interest. It grew rapidly, but I remember when we were a fairly small number. Now gaming is so assumed that individual games are hobbies. Gaming language is embedded in our culture. I remember it being a rare novelty that few people understood and fewer took seriously.

  • I have to wear so many clothes, just so many clothes. I wear as little as possible in the summer. That's such a hassle in the winter. And real, closed shoes all the time. Hopefully my wool wildlings will be warm and I can have barefoot winter shoes.

  • Ex-Floridian here. It's a wild ride every time. You can probably handle it, since you can definitely handle extreme weather. But you need a lot of equipment for it. You need a whole winter gear and skill loadout you swap to every autumn. I enjoy the adventure element of winter the same way I enjoyed the storms of Florida. Both make you face off against nature to be outside. But people are afraid of the weather here. Florida is filled with brave and foolish weather warriors. People don't die to idiocy every big snow like they do every hurricane. I'm not saying it never happens, but there is no equivalent to the guy on the news before every hurricane declaring his faith in God and his boat.

  • It's a federated reddit alternative. The most I've ever had to elaborate is to clarify that "federated" basically means "decentralized." I've never tried to explain it to someone who can't figure it out from that.

  • There is literally only one person developing SDV and Haunted Chocolatier. This is literally an impossible statement. There is only ConcernedApe, and he has not announced any cancelation.

  • At work, the weed filled box where everything makes sense! <3

  • Don't tell my communist friends, but I'm super excited to work Black Friday at my dispensary x_x I read Convenience Store Woman while off work this week, and I am ready to be back where things make sense to me. I have faith in the world inside the weed filled box <3

  • Yeah, I've been spending more time on Discord lately, but I'm sure not going back to reddit. Tbh I've really disconnected from spaces where I was/would be exposed to right wing extremists and hatred of me. Instagram obviously has it's problems, but the algorithm won't allow me--a trans lesbian stoner--to view hateful content without a fight. If I need to see some fringe beliefs and content, I'll dive head first into the Hexbear pool!

  • Tbh I play the hell out of some Kairosoft games on mobile <_< I love watching my little guys thrive.

  • BG3 is a huge exception. It's more popular by far than most games of the sort. And still only two of the dozen gamers I work with has played any of it, and they are both done with it.

all these gamers glowing about how great it is

Where? If you mean online, yeah, online discussion and gaming publications focus on more complex games that more serious gamers are playing. There's just more to say about them. And news sites are gonna pay more attention to exceptions to the norm like BG3. None of the many gamers in my life are talking about it. If you're hearing about BG3 and other huge, complex games regularly, it's because you are spending time in spaces where and with people who care about them. Because it's not just everywhere.

  • Oh yeah I know that, it just seems like these type of games are super popular.

I honestly think that's just your circle. That does not describe the majority of the gamers I know or have known. I have always been in a minority for wanting to do math in my free time and have to find places online to discuss these games because usually nobody else in my life is playing them. Most of the people I know who played BG3 did so because it is popular, and they avoided as much of the math and homework as possible. And most of them are done with it.

  • There are tons of games that don't require that sort of knowledge base or study investment. It's a minority that do. But you're on Lemmy. This is a self selected community of extra thoughtful nerds. This community is more likely to be excited about games with homework than your average gaming community. I do genuinely love the research part of complex games. I like crafting builds and planning battles. I loved both Divinity Original Sin games and will love BG3 when I get there.

But sometimes I do just want a game for my hands to play while by brain takes a break. That's why I spent most of the summer with Earth Defense Force 5, a 9/10 space insect exploding experience. Highly recommend it if you don't want to fuck with the details.

  • I guess whatever Kairosoft sim game I'm playing at the moment. Right now that's Tropical Resort Story. I am entirely addicted to their formula. I love watching my little guys do things and helping them succeed.

Or maybe Shadow of the Colossus. It's the game I know better than any other. I'll never not be able to jump into at least normal difficulty. And I can just ride around the Forbidden Lands having thoughts and feelings for hours sometimes. The Forbidden Lands are a very placid, pensive place for me. I have known them since I was a teenager, for nearly 20 years. And occasionally I can tackle a Colossus or two.

  • No, but Lemmy is usually the only one I use irresponsibly. My Instagram and discord use is mostly genuine personal and professional connections. I'll interact with some real bullshit on here.

  • Yes, I have had great experiences with cbd, with the caveat that most commercial products have too low a dose to be effective. Cbd does not dose numerically like thc. It wants much higher doses to be effective for most users. The good news is that cbd isolate is dirt cheap, less than $1/g. Get yourself some cbd isolate and some empty capsules. Dose ~100mg and go from there.

That said, I have much better experiences with CBG for daytime anxiety. I'm a glowing, golden angel with a good dose of CBG in me. I'm also so focused and productive it's ridiculous. Seriously consider CBG and CBN for anxiety maintenance. CBN is more sedating, better for night/bedtime, also good for panic attacks in my experience.
