  • Thank you for the lengthy write up. You see though the problem with watching it all is I'd be watching it all... I do appreciate the time it must have taken for this reply though.

That clip on YouTube you linked was super cringe. Agree with you on TNG there's definitely times and episodes where I think the writers phoned it in and I'm not going to pretend it's all good. Still my favorite star trek but I don't watch much so that's not saying anything considering I haven't even seen any of the new stuff.

  • I really tried to like that show but it's just ... Bad. To each their own but I'd rather just rewatch TNG or whatever other Star Trek. That show feels like it doesn't have an identity, the writers couldn't decide what kind of show they were writing and the acting is subpar.

Of course, if you enjoy it that's all that really matters - keep on watching and having fun!

  • Because they're not Marxist ideologies and you're trying to pretend they are and/or reading materials that are disingenuous and incorrect.

I'm not calling you a Nazi but I am telling you that CRT and DEI initiatives are not at all grounded in Marxism.

  • Lol thinking DEI is somehow parallel to authoritarianism is hilarious.

You might want to work on your reading comprehension if this is the lesson you learned. Making sure a company has a fair and unbiased hiring process or representation of minorities or fair pay and equal equity for stakeholders that are people of color or women, etc etc is a very far cry from some sort of broad wealth redistribution.

  • Admittedly not having read the article but I think the idea for the AI is not really to stop or alert anyone to an active school shooting. Maybe it could give a little heads up depending on how the shooter starts.

I think the bigger idea is for it to pick up firearms a kid might flash or have brought in to show off or otherwise brandish but not use at the time. That way you can intervene before a gun gets used but that's just my theory.

Agree on society though, it's very obvious the proliferation of firearms and ease of procuring one is a huge contributor to school shootings and gun violence in general. God forbid we try to rein that in. Let's just treat guns like cars. I have to get a license to drive a car because of how easy it is to kill myself or others with an automobile. When I turn 18 I can go buy an AR-15 with a simple run through a fed background check - maybe not even that, depending on the state and where you buy it - and waltz out the same day with a tool specifically made to kill people. No training, no oversight, no lessons just here's a tool to kill other humans and have fun!

How does that make any sense?

  • I think for me it was the girl with spiders coming out of her face. I think the weird horse pic is scary too.

They're all unsettling that's for sure. Good job with the prompt for this image it's cool.

  • Oh my gosh I thought the exact same thing!!

This one in particular came to mind. I bought the compendium with the old illustrations so I can properly scar my child with them same as I was.

Still have some of that just burned into my mind's eye, terrifying stuff for a kid, I think I was like 7ish (maybe 6?) when I read the first one. Still I turned out mostly ok I like to think.

  • The problem is you're framing the accusations as if they're just accusations without proof when they're not. Regardless of that, in a plainly misogynistic move, you're also assuming the women aren't being truthful.

It only makes the Dems "hurt more" if you're viewing it through that prism. In reality, where this shit is fucked up and is happening, the GOP is confirming a terrible person. Confirmations used to be largely bipartisan and mostly a walk through, now one party just ignores the other because the moral compass is so far apart compromise is impossible. You can't compromise with amoral fascist lovers. So yeah of course none of the Dems voted for him.

  • Dude Americans pay more out of pocket for healthcare than any other country and get worse results.

Like, I have no idea what state you reside in but I have had months long wait times to see docs in the USA. Your made up example can be applied to the USA just the same except we're just paying more money for the privilege.

    Our system is absolutely fucked.

  • by your own admittance I can come and disrupt your family to any extent I choose

I'm pretty sure protests, disruptive as they can be, are very different than personally attacking or otherwise bothering an individual and their family.

That's some crazy "logic" you're working with there.

  • I still think most of that was psyops and not real people because that logic is dumb af. I'm sure some got caught up in it and didn't vote but it's not surprising to me that now nobody on Lemmy actually cares about Palestine anymore.

  • Where the fuck you gonna deport them to?

Work camps to be used as slave labor is my bet if we're talking mask off open fascism becoming the norm in the USA.

I really despise trump voters by now, I could forgive them the first time but after his first term and all the rest of everything these fuckers are either willfully ignorant or actually subscribe to his rhetoric and fucked up beliefs which is worse. There's no redeeming them at this point I'm afraid.

  • Zionism is trash. Israel is the one doing the ethnic cleansing and genocide and using Zionism as part of the excuse for it.

I know it's not the fault of Judaism or Jews in general but goddamn Israel is probably turning people antisemitic because of what they're doing and have done.
