  • I guess the NYT no longer has an editor on staff? Who the fuck let that go to print, also who writes something like that into an article - that little paragraph where the NYT claims that "industry experts" said Chinese girls are better at assembling phones reads like cringe AI slop.

I feel like literally one person proofreading that should have been enough for them to go, "maybe don't print the stupid racist thing about small fingers."

  • A bunch of LARPing dipshits who didn't realize how close they were to ending up just like Babbit.

Yeah, I'm sure the folks that are part of meal team six that are "standing by" are LARPing as soldiers/paramilitary. I suspect the second any real shit went down most of them would crumble like tissue paper.

It takes a real bootlicking coward to join the proud boys or any like minded orgs. I've no doubt they're full of guys who want to project some false machismo and bravado because they're so fat, ugly, dumb, and sexually frustrated. Bet that they can't even get laid if they paid for it.

Like seriously I think maybe 1/20 of the dudes I see standing around trying to look tough are somewhat in shape. The rest are obese and would probably die just having to walk a few miles in the heat.

Now, having said all that, guns don't care if you're in shape or not - they shoot bullets just the same. These people are dangerous, I just don't think they'll have the resolve or nerve to stand up to organized resistance if push comes to shove.

  • I don’t know how you watch those videos and think “yeah, she was innocent.”

It's easy, you just don't watch the videos. I watched the video of her getting shot. She is warned numerous times by the DC police officer (I think was who ended up firing on her I can't remember) before breaking in and climbing through a window to the area literally right outside the Congressional chambers.

I mean ... What else was supposed to happen there? There was a few dudes guarding that door vs a bunch of angry rioters/cultists/pieces of shit. They didn't really have a choice but to shoot her or they would have had a flood of people coming through there.

I saw some pretty interesting human behavior on display that day watching it real time with video from inside and out.

One interesting thing, when they shot Ashli everyone behind her changed their tune REAL quick and ran away. Shit got real for them. In all honesty I think the police/national guard when they arrived should have used lethal force that day. I understand the logic behind not and I can't disagree with it completely, largely out numbered and no way to know what kind of firearms were in the crowd. Of course it made sense to try to delay and not escalate into what could have been a shoot out. However, I think that plan also emboldened the bad actors there.

Another interesting thing - I watched hundreds of people file through a velvet roped off line before someone decided to undo the ropes so people could actually move around. It was hilarious. Thank God the people that stormed the Capitol were a bunch of morons, I'm sure that saved some lives.

  • I think things will eventually get better, but how long that eventually is and what it looks like is very unknown.

I agree that things will get worse. I'm fortunate to be of the privileged white dude class here so I am mostly insulated from the worst of things and live in my little suburban bubble.

It will be interesting to see how Trump's supporters square the reality coming our way with what they've been told by that orange stain of a human. It's basically a fact at this point that we will see rising prices on pretty much everything, stock will dwindle and store shelves will have some bare spots and we can't easily replace a lot of the manufacturing and production of goods done overseas so a lot of stuff is going to get way more expensive because of it or just cease existing. Not to mention the problems that will manifest with our food supply when crops aren't picked or farms/ranches and slaughterhouses are having labor shortages.

It's just a recipe for disaster in 6 months or less.

I really hope I'm wrong about everything I said and I'll eat crow and things will be fine. I want so desperately to be wrong.

  • Could you please finally lock Drump and his henchmen up for all their crimes and put some halfway decent people in their place?

No, because that should have happened during Biden's tenure. I still contend Trump should have been hanged for treason and his Jan 6th buddies got off too lite. Now they're pardoned and emboldened and Trump thinks he has the mandate of "the people" even though over half of us that voted did not vote for him. Sets a pretty bad precedent when someone can get away with standing up and calling for violence and to disregard the results of an election. Trump should have been made an example of - instead he's now president because we live in the dumbest timeline.

It's probably going to get worse before it gets better. The next few years will be a key point in future history classes. We're staring at an existential threat to our Republic and I'm not sure we will survive it.

  • A lot of suburban sprawl in the USA doesn't have good local coffee shops around and Starbucks is the best, or at least reasonably close, option available to get a fancy caffeine fix.

Plus they serve lots of things other than over roasted drip coffee.

I like some of their iced drinks and macchiatos. But I like sweet garbage with too many calories. So my palette isn't exactly refined. However, that's a lot of the reason is just lack of options and people genuinely like their sugary sweet drinks and will pay a premium for everybody's favorite drug caffeine.

  • Damn, sometimes (because I'm a miscreant) I like to jump into convos or make a comment on them if someone is being really loud about it especially if they're on the phone with another person.

I mean, I rarely do it because people are crazy but sometimes I can't stop myself.

  • Is it though? Because evolution is only really concerned with a thing living long enough to reproduce. It's not planned like eugenics would be.

That's why there's tons of examples of dumb as hell stuff in biology because as long as an organism is "good enough" to keep reproducing and spreading their genes that is fine and that species will continue to evolve.

Eugenics would be more like if evolution somehow could select only for specific traits and then made sure to only let things with those traits reproduce. Evolution is much messier than that.

  • Oh, well my bad, I didn't realize mumbo jumbo God land gets a fucking wave off for protecting pedophiles because it's been that way for a long time.

The state saying, "hey you can't hide behind the veil of religion to protect the people doing horrible things to children," is definitely something to argue in court regarding the first amendment.

I'd argue it's not a restriction of the practice of religion to compell someone with knowledge of child abuse or similarly heinous crimes to share that with an authority (the state) that can take action to protect people.

Setting all that aside. How is it not just wrong on some fundamental level to have the power to halt but still let abuse and pedophilia occur? It just seems wrong.

Maybe that's why religious participation has been declining. Because they're busy telling you that it's sacred to protect pedophiles.

    Quick edit:

That's dogma and the practice/form is in large part a matter of unchangeable doctrine

Emphasis mine. Ok so you're saying that there is a possibility that dogma and the practice/form can change and has changed. So... Let's do that.
