I think piefed doesnt have an app yet, and it came relatively late to the fediverse as an alternative to lemmy, but I have high hopes they will finish an app soon!
I know it's a bit of a bummer to be an early adopter of stuff at times, but the bright side is that it's all exciting. I like the fediverse more and more every time I notice an update.
It's been 1,5 years since I joined and holy moly was it cool to switch from webapp (jerboa app was there, but it was just not for me) to voyager when it was released.
I believe because it's not just a different instance, it has a different backend to lemmy (voyager is a lemmy app).
Same reason why you can't login to a Mbin instance on voyager. Only lemmy instances work with voyager.
Edit: I'm so bad at explaining but maybe this analogy helps: think of the difference between piefed and lemmy the same as mastodon and lemmy: the content is connected but they are different kinds of software.
My experience with German programming languages is with Siemens PLC's, since the programming language changes together with the IDE when you set the language to German. Looking at Structured Text / Instruction List having U (und) instead of A (and) operator and bunch of other things was interesting.
But IIRC there were also higher programming languages that are in other languages? Wasn't there one for arabic? Was this it: https://github.com/nasser/---/
If you are moving abroad for the first time I highly recommend reading / looking for resources about culture shock.
You will have it. It's easier to deal with it if you know and understand it and ways to mitigate the feeling.
And in Germany - if you plan to stay for years - you should definitely learn the language. Germany is beautiful and a lot of folks speak English but if you truly want to feel at home, get friends and not break down at some point due to culture shock then take effort in learning about the culture and why they are the way they are.
Toivon että tälle on tulevaisuudessa enemmän kysyntää niin saataisiin taas paremmilla spekseillä dumb tv malleja. Vähän niinkuin on ollut kysyntää dumb kännyköistä.
Pahimmassa tapauksessa saadaan ostaa telkkareita ja niihin on sitten joku ratkaisu kuten grapheneOS/lineageOS kännyköille ja (jos muistan nimen oikein) openWRT reitittimille.
Yeah I assumed old info as well. And with electronjs allowing web apps to run as native apps I also have suspicions that the version between web and native is going to blur out with MS apps.
I am so hyped for Libre software. Inkscape is another amazing software that has come a long way recently.
That plan sounds good and it should be absolutely no problem to transfer the moderation to you since it is on your instance and the mod has been inactive that long! Indeed go to the support community I mentioned and earlier and ask :)
No problem at all and good luck! Glad to have you in lemmy :)
Now, if you can tell the community name we can help you more.
Or if you prefer not to say then you need to figure out the community's instance it is on, so the server name that comes after the AT sign examplecommunity@instance.name and contact the Admins of that instance.
If the community is in your instance (so lemmy.world) it's tad bit easier: go to !support@lemmy.world and make a post about volunteering to take over a community.
Good luck and don't hesitate to msg me or ask me here for help!
The article says that other office apps can only do collaborative document work in their browser versions, but I thought Word can do it natively as long as the document is in OneDrive/Sharepoint/whatever microsoft came up with next?
I recall opening a shared document locally with Word and being able to collaborate.
Lemmy is still growing and niche communities will take time to grow. I've also advocated for combining communities until a community grows to be too big and could use splitting into smaller, more dedicated communities.
Don't remember which community we decided to lock and put a permanent stickied post pointing to another community for similar content until that community would become too big and we could reopen the closed community once there was a need for it.
But yeah its tough right now with smaller communities and trying to get the ball rolling. If you haven't already, join us at !fedigrow@lemm.ee.
