  • Yeah, in Sanford and Son, half the jokes are "I miss my dead wife!" Far more wholesome!

But honestly, those shows weren't made to be binged all in a row, they tended to have similar, familiar jokes from week to week. Even the best shows can be a little tiresome unless they're spread out over a longer period of time.

  • I had some "teething" as my wisdom teeth came in. It's painful, and causes a fever, but babies have no understanding of why they are in pain, and no way to deal with it. As an adult, it's not fun, but it's manageable and much less scary.

  • Curious was the data say on the topic. I can see flavored milk being more appealing than unflavored, and encouraging kids to drink it.

Obviously added sugar isn't great, but what is the net effect on health, in regards to the community as a whole?

What are the alternative drink choices? Fruit juice? Water? Just white milk?

  • It would entirely depend on how fast you suck.

Even moderately cool water would work if you just drank slow enough, and ice water wouldn't work if you drank too fast.

I'm sure some engineer could do the math on how cold the water would have to be to cool boiling water at maximum vacuum.

  • Depends on how dogmatic you want to get. Signal gets a passing grade from nearly all privacy focused groups, including the EFF.

Of course it has centralized control, and if they really wanted to, they could push out a change that creates huge privacy and security problems, but as a not for profit, they really have no incentive to do anything nefarious.

If you truly want to have 100% security, you need to go to school for a decade, learn how the latest encryption and security works, create your own ecosystem, and have zero bugs or problems.

  • You can ask him to explain the episodes to you. It might help him reflect on the information and give you something to talk about.

If he's difficult to "debate" it might be that the format of your conversations are to blame. Sometimes arguing, especially by throwing "facts" and trying to prove someone that their views are wrong, just creates tension and pushback causing the opposite effect. There's something called Street Epistemology that can help open the door to actual conversations and reflection, instead of antagonistic debating.

If that fails, there's also the option for couples therapy if you feel like you're not communicating.

  • Call and check with your doctor if it feels wrong, but it was a full month before I didn't hurt just day to day, and another full month before sports were fully comfortable again.

Everyone is different, and I couldn't tell you if it's really normal or not, but it really does take a while for everything to go back to truly pain free.

  • Why not? That's how apprentice programs work, and how they used to work back in the day. If you don't know how to get useful work out of a trainee, that's your own problem. Hire an assistant and train them up, maybe work them 20 hours and send them through other math/science classes at the local community college to fill in necessary, but not directly work oriented skills.

In the end you'll have a very loyal, and well trained recruit that knows your business very well.

  • Absolutely not. Google played a part in causing this death, it might have been a minor part, but it was a party in the death. The court will decide how much.

This isn't a frivolous claim, this is Google not being able to maintain their maps safely. Google needs to put more resources into map maintenance, and respond when people submit safety issues with their mapping data.

  • Don't get tricked by big media the way they did with the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit.

Google was notified for a decade that they had a dangerous route listed. Safety standards aren't made for people acting perfectly, they're made for having multiple layers of safety for things that can kill or maime you.

Yes, there is SOME level of personal responsibility, but if Google told 100,000 people to do something dangerous, it's inevitable that someone would have a combination of factors that caused someone to do it and die.

Google just claims over and over that it's too big and has too much data to be able to have any sort of customer service or maintenance, and this is the result.

Yes, other people are also responsible, but that's what the legal system is for, to look at evidence and not headlines and place blame. I wouldn't be surprised if Google settles out of court on this one and promises to fix their maps.
