  • No such thing, technology gets better and even games that feel perfect today would be better with newer UI, smoother framerates, or better controls.

Of course you can say that the original Super Mario Brothers needs to exist still so people could keep working on speed runs, or just cause of the history, but a better SMB with new controls and smoother gameplay should always be on the table.

  • Depends on how old you are when you retire. 3-3.5% is much safer if you are like 20yo and never want to (or can't) work again.

4% is plenty safe if you are 65yo. Once you hit 80+ your expenses are probably going to be pretty low, you probably own your house, probably aren't traveling much, and you don't really need more "stuff".

  • You'd never get to a billion, because nobody needs a billion to live. You only get to a billion by being insane, thinking you need to get the high score in capitalism.

People who say they'd retire and walk the earth would just do that at a million or four, and not wait until you hit billions to stop.

  • Depends on when. There have been many times in the past 20 years that "low mileage" cars are only a couple thousand less than new, and some rare cases during the pandemic where used was more than new, cause new didn't exist.

Even now depending on where you live, you have to get a fairly used car to get a significant discount.

  • I know this is pie in the sky, but look into how habitat for humanity does this. You would be causing a lot of trouble for those families.

Tax burdens for the purchase, because you're essentially giving them a lot of money. Kind of like how the people Opera gave cars to couldn't always afford the taxes and ended up having to sell the car.

Also, predatory lenders look for people in that situation and trick them into getting loans on the house to get "free" cash from the equity and then the people just immediately lose their house and end up in the same place.

There are ways to protect them from all of the above, just need a little more than just "give house to good people"

  • Cloud gaming is bad for history. If the game was only released for the cloud, and that game is shut down, or the cloud service shuts down, that game is gone forever.

They want to push it, because it gives them control over every aspect of the experience. They know everything you do in the game, you can't mod it, you can't pirate, you can't play offline, you can't do anything unless they say you can.

  • It's all arbitrary. Someone just decided to base a scale off of something and that something isn't fixed from the start. The meter used to be based off the measurement of the earth, but now it's based off of light.

It's just some random semi-useful starting point that we all agree on so we're using the same language.

  • Cause I don't care about tweaking every little thing on the phone. I just leave 90% of the defaults on and it's basically set up when I buy it. I just figure out where the new stuff is when I need it and it's worked just fine for me.

  • You can tell qBittorrent to only use the VPN, and it kills any connection not using that tunnel.

I tested it with legal Linux isos and killed my VPN connection, and everything just stops.

So both the VPN service itself, and qBittorrent can be configured independently to protect you. Belt and suspenders.

  • I love how everyone worships dogs. Most dogs I've met are exciting as fuck, they play constantly, run around everywhere and jump with you. I fully understand that this is a dog lover problem, but damn, dogs are special.

Kids are similar, they are exciting, dirty, loud, playful, etc... Again, this is usually due to being human.

Most dog owners and parents are probably having a great time being dog owners and parents.
