  • He was allowed to run because McConnell stonewalled Obama and let Trump select a bunch of Supreme Court appointees, which then decided that trump can't be held accountable for anything.

Then everyone decided the rule of law was important, except trump, which means he's steamrolling every safeguard we had.

  • Trump has been threatening and posturing for 10 years. The second he was elected the economy started to react to everything he has said and done up to that point.

He's been indirectly impacting the economy for years, and directly impacting it since November.

  • No deal with Trump has ever been secure. The only thing he is the king of is reneging on deals.

Anyone who actually wants a payment from trump needs 100% payment upfront, otherwise you're just getting a small fraction of the agreed upon deal, if anything.

  • Fallout source is gone too. There was just no reliable way to store source code back then, a lot of times it was just one of the developers that had it sitting in a desk drawer.

If it's new enough, maybe a burnt CD.

  • Not all cd players had an accessible lens. A car deck had a slot insert and there was no way to get at the lens without disassembling the whole thing.

Computer CD players also had a tray that extended so the lens was mostly hidden.

Boomboxes and portable CD players had pop up lids where you could see the lens, but there were probably an equal number of players where you couldn't access it.

  • Shift-A and Shift-I to append at the end or insert at the start.

Once you know the system, it's much easier to do everything without having to take your hands off the keyboard to use a mouse.

  • I write code every day at my job. I use vim.

It does everything I need it to do, and it works exactly the same way on every system I touch, and functions the same way since I started using it decades ago (aside from being able to use arrow keys now instead of hjkl)

If I HAVE to do any coding on Windows, I use notepad++.

  • ... if they can design and print a case they probably already owned a 3d printer. The amount of plastic used to make the small case is likely just a few grams. Probably around $1 of plastic total.

Yes, the article is pretty light on details since it's just a rehash of a couple of comments with no actual reporting, but don't blame the person for designing and printing a neat little case for their hobby. This is a perfectly acceptable way to repair and continue to use some broken electronics.

  • Bush 2 wouldn't have been reelected if it wasn't for 9/11.

We wouldn't have had the patriot act.

We wouldn't have spent trillions on the wars.

There's absolutely no way we would have ended up where we are right now if it wasn't for 9/11.

  • Starship Troopers had the highest survival rate, so that one.

Absolutely not The Thing because you have no idea if escaping means the end of the world. You'd have to murder suicide the whole place.

Aliens... Maybe. It's survivable, but just barely. You'd probably want to hold a live grenade with the pin pulled the whole time, so you'd at least never have to be brought back to the queen.

  • They're TECHNICALLY still up there for political/budget reasons. If they wanted to buy a new capsule to go get them, we could.

But on the same note, ALL of the astronauts are "stuck" up there for budget/political reasons. We're not going to bring them up and down willy-nilly cause it's way too expensive. They should have come back months ago, but since they're original capsule was decided to be too risky, they pushed it back to the next available SpaceX capsule.

Elon is both arguing for an INCREASE in funding to go get them now (which is far too late, we wouldn't be able to safely prep and send a mission to get them back sooner), but also DECREASE funding for the ISS. Just whatever gets him attention and more numbers in his Forbes ranking.
