  • The path to billionaire pockets is getting shorter for most properties. AirBnB allows it to pay for itself even faster than rental property, justofy its sitting empty status, and the semi-rich hosts often sell to these conglomerates as part of their retirement nest egg.

  • Well, she did look fine to most progressives when she directly supported medicare for all, to be fair. Israel was only committing an apartheid at the time, though. Also, she backtracked because she let other people control her campaign. Familiar...

  • Forgiveness is always possible, although if someone hits me with DARVO, I'm going to forever filter their behavior through a check before helping them. It's sorta amazing what we can go through and forgive after, but I guess the misnomer is that the apology is for them and not ourselves.

  • We would recommend sharing the paywalled link as the primary url and archive either in the comments or in description if an archive link is desired.

  • I also factor that in, but in cushy government, the benefits are usually in the 25k range. It doesn't scale endlessly with pay. Fed wouldn't be on the extreme end of that, in my experience, it gets larger the lower the agency. Could just be my state taking care of employees well though.

  • There are definitely more of them on Reddit, but I think new accounts there stand out more as an attempt to obfuscate prior intent since reddit has been around forever and lemmy still gets a lot of highly involved new users or people switching instances without intent to deceive. I'd be curious if an actual analysis shows a trend of soft introductions to soft on Russia sources using articles that don't mention Russia or Ukraine at all. Still, even if shown to be the primary technique, it's a hard sell to moderate based on articles that weren't linked, and certainly larger media corporations have a few crappy false articles a month as well, not even to mention opinion pieces.

  • His news sources are often the most leftist coated articles from the most tankie sources. I feel we should judge based on the articles shared rather than the sites he frequent, but it is worth keeping in mind the staff of their news orgs are extremely anti-nato and can't quite seem to condemn Putins aggression as fervantly as they condemn Europe arming itself in a defensive stance... but you'd only see that if you explored the sites' other takes than what's being shared here. Whether the goal is to soften people on these sources, idk, but it's not for a mod to say a factual article should be removed because other articles hosted there are more dubious. Just my 2c

  • They claim 10k jobs, of which most are early retirement buy-outs, will save 1.8 billion dollars? So the average employee costs them 180k. I mean, I know Kennedy didn't take a biology 101 course, but this is just stupid for a 4th grader with a piece of paper to do long multiplication. Their salaries are public information, and 180k is not even close (80k off) to the average.

  • It's between a potential trade route for the US and Russia as well as an increasingly important route for military vessels and eventually high amounts of trade as populations move further north due to global warming, which they obviously believe in when they plan their own future actions.

  • He's probably insecure about what she'd be up to out of his sight. Insecurity motivates most of what these freaks do.

  • I don't consider it Art, but the specific reason I hate it is because it is meant to be an illusion of something that it's not, and it's crafted that illusion off the blood sweat and tears of people whom it treats as a line item in a database by people who don't respect it. It is fundamentally a bastardizarion of the creative soul and rather purposefully at that.

I mean, every highly contrasted media we've ever watched, just about, is about someone with a modicum of empathy struggling against a fascist with no empathy to their cause, and what is more fascist than diminishing or dilluting the perceived value of art to the public? Art is the only language allowed to those who are repressed.

  • Do you have a source for AMD chips being especially energy efficient? I don't consider them to be even close. M3 is 190 cinebench points per watt whereas Ryzen 7 7840U is 100. My ppw data doesn't contain snapdragon x yet, but it's generally considered to be a multithreading king on the market and it runs as signifcantly lower tdp than AMD. SoCs are inherently more energy efficient. My memory of why is the instruction sets on x86 allow for more complicated process but ARM is hard restricted to using less complicated processes as building blocks if complexity is required.

Like I mentioned though, there are tasks that x86 cannot be beat on but it's because they use ASICs on-chip for hardware accelerated encoding/decoding and nothing is more efficient at a task than a (purpose-built, task specific*) ASIC /FPGA.

  • Dell is already releasing Qualcomm SoC Latitudes. There are bound to be compatibility issues, but performance wise it's kinda undeniable that this is where the market is going. It is far more energy efficient than an Intel or AMD x86 CPU and holds up just fine. The main downsides you'll see could likely be resolved with ASICs, which is how Intel keeps 4k video from being choppy on low end APUs for example. Compared to M4, Qualcomm's offering is slightly better at multithreaded performance and slightly worse at single thread. The real downside to them is really the reliance on raw throughput for tasks that both brands of CPUs have purpose built daughter chips for.

  • Of course he does. The president literally benefitted directly from Apartheid and feels personally attacked by the reforms around it.

  • Democrats share their lists whenever each other are in tight races. It's annoying that you end up getting perma-spammed, but I do think ActBlue is providing a good service. They're kinda shooting themselves in the foot because unsolicited emails get flagged as spam and most email providers use crowdsourced spam detect.

  • An ethnostate that's also acting fascistic?! No wayyy /s

  • If you remember, he tried not to by hinging it on a bogus investigation into Berisma and he also discontinued all support later after presumably discarding Zelenskyy since he had nothing more to give the admin politically in an era of ally abandonment. Notably, all of this abandonment is good for Putin.

It's arguable that Trump isn't so much an ally of Putin, but someone hoping to benefit from him as an attack dog to leverage power with our actual allies, but it's been shown time and time again that Trump does not have either the ability or the will to reign in Putin, so the end result is virtually identical to treating him as an ally -- except the added national embarassment of inconsistent messaging.

The alternative is that Trump is reigning him in, but it's through personal favors that we may never know about. This is the entire Russiagate justification.
