  • It's such a shitty airline anyways, had bad experience both times (issues because of carry on luggage, name on ticket etc) - not directly to me, but this always caused delays on my two flights, one of which required them to unload cargo again. I only used them because they were the only one flying a certain connection, they weren't even particularly cheap; but after the second incident, I just used a different airport because I'm not putting up with such a shitty airline.

  • My copy of the book has this translation: "To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself." which is not exactly the same, but in a similar spirit.

  • When the soldiers stand leaning on their spears, they are faint from want of food If those who are sent to draw water begin by drinking themselves, the army is suffering from thirst

This refers to the enemy army, not their own – at least from my reading, these paragraphs are about observing signs about enemy plans and capabilities.

Bring war material with you from home, but forage on the enemy. Thus the army will have food enough for its needs

I mean, OK? My point was that the book is a strategic guide and not just obvious stuff noblemen don't know. But there is also plenty of other stuff in there, and as I said earlier, logistics are probably the most important aspect of modern conflict.

  • A little reminder that Sun Tzu “The Art of War” is not some grand masterpiece in strategic thinking. It is a guide aimed at nobelmen that were so far removed from reality, that they needed to be told things like “You can’t just order a win in a real competition” or “If you don’t give your soldiers food, they become weak and die”

That's not really what the book says. It does go into strategy (though today it's rather inspiration than something to be followed to the letter).

Plus, while you make it seem trivial, logistics are really hard and must not be overlooked. It's like saying "Germany lost the Battle of Stalingrad because they didn't know that if you [edit: don't] give your soldiers food, they become weak and die!" like, they probably knew this, but their strategy lead to a situation where this happened.

  • And why would they? They're printing so much money, this niche probably doesn't make a dent.

It doesn't matter if Windows is the best system for gaming. It just matters if people believe it is.

You can always justify using Windows. "How do I get Game Pass to work on my handheld?" is probably something people care about.

Granted this is an expensive way to lock customers into your platform, but they're already doing it anyways, so no need to pour money into the OS experience when you can just sell services building on customer data.

  • Plex has better security, federates and shares with other plex servers and generally is less hands-on for transcoding.

Regarding security, it'd be interesting to see how secure it actually is. Yeah, the individual endpoints might be protected better, but is Plex the company maybe a single point of failure?

  • All the good stuff available and you choose a POSIX shell? To each their own I guess.

Granted, I still prefer it to PowerShell, but only in how it feels, not conceptually.

  • They aren't MAGA. They're in only for themselves and will temporarily ally with anything they think make them more in the long run. Which currently is Trump with MAGA, and while they share the motivation with him, it's selfish. I mean if he wanted to, Trump could offset the higher cost. Why should Walmart and not the one causing it?
