  • Yeah, it's sus asf but more likely a dumb cultural thing. Younger Zoomers are very technically inept generally and they get scared of leaving information up on the internet because they never learned to deal with "once it's up on the internet it's up forever" and create online personas completely separate from their real life.

  • Yes. However believing all beliefs are equal because they are equally likely to be false which is what "everyone is influenced by propaganda" implies, is also an incorrect way to think and an intellectually dishonest shirking of responsibility. Kudos to you for not simply repeating the mantra but stating the right response to it.

  • Ah neat. American college culture is so fascinating to me.

Here in the UK we have absolutely nothing even remotely like this.

University is just a building you go to and attend lectures at, there's no real "campus" at most unis, the entrance is usually same as an office building - street level somewhere central-ish (at least in London), and the only people who hang out at the uni cafes and whatnot are overly posh knobs and grifters who have nothing better to do while most others are off working or getting high at home.

There's no "dorms", there's usually "student halls" but they're not related to the university, and they're not anywhere near it, and "the halls" (like a boarding house) are shared between students of different unis, but are also seen as a ghetto and those who can afford it just rent their own place or house share instead.

I have no idea if my university had any non-staff merch and if it did whether or not anyone wore it or knew about it, nevermind sporting events.

  • 3.5 years old isn't that old lol. My desktop CPU was almost 10 years old before I noticed any bottleneck in AAA games.

And speaking of AAA games from the last few years, all like, 2 of them, probably won't be missed by most people.

The deck is a solid computer and it's a good product that's built well and is pleasant to handle and use and playing desktop games on that OLED with HDR support is a joy and on top of a decently polished UX (as polished as you can get in PC gaming really), the tinker potential is endless, you can do with it as you please because it's yours and you own it - and it certainly feels like it. No adware, no enshittification etc.

  • Now I want to do a thing where during interviews I wear merch from a different university than the one on my CV, especially from locations it would be extremely improbable for me to go to university and during interviews aggressively hint I went to said university instead of the one I actually said I went to, without outright saying anything false.

  • You're gonna want custom clothes. Also, not gonna lie, that video is the most extreme thing I've seen on the internet ever, and had there not been the story, I might have assumed this was completely made up, but fake or not - the story sold me enough to make me suck in my gut, no weird 240p .3gp dog beheading I saw as a kid could ever match this, zoomers are blessed/cursed to have this on tiktok.
