I'm sure JK Rowling and Riley Gaines will applaud the killers. This is the intention. This is what they want. I feel sick reading this article. "Trans people are so privileged in society, we need to protect everyone from them" meanwhile we suffer rape assault and murder rates far higher than for cisgender populations. The trans community lives with a constant fear of violence. This story isn't even unique. It is heartbreaking, sickening and tragic. But it's happened many times before.

Fuck every single person who spreads transphobia. Fuck every terf. This is the desired outcome they have. They know this is the case, they know that their actions will lead to trans death. They don't care.

I'm not calling for anyone to commit an assassination. I am ideologically justifying the use of violence to advance the working class struggle. I am pointing out the way violence is used against the working class by the ruling class and the state every single day.

We'll take class traitors of the ruling class. Not that he is one, but I'm just saying.

I think that it's time we stopped putting the expectation on the working class to avoid violence while the ruling class and the state can use violence against us every single day.

I talked about what constitutes violence in another thread, but needless to say violence and the threat of violence is constantly used against us. Eviction, starvation, execution by police, denial of healthcare, denial of warmth and shelter, these are all kinds of violence that are used against the working class all the time. These things kill us, we die when we are evicted onto the street in the cold of winter. Or when our wages stagnate and we cannot afford food or healthcare. Or when some have disabilities and cannot produce endlessly for the ruling class. Those things cause death. Murder in its purest form.

We are systematically discouraged from perceiving them that way because if we did, we would see violence in return as justified. We have every right to riot against the conditions imposed upon us. We have every right to violently resist the rule of the state and the ruling class. I agree that assassination won't fix the system because the system is broken all the way down to its foundations. Merely executing one billionaire won't magically fix this. The ruling class will never give up their position within society, however. There are no conditions in which the ruling class will relinquish their capital or return any amount of power to the working class. For the sake of not breaking any rules of this community, I'll end that thought there.

There was a lot of debate about this when the reddit exodus happened in 2023. I initially joined then and have stuck around since. Something that was said a lot back then that I agree with is that Lemmy doesn't have to compete with reddit. It's alright for this corner of the internet to exist and not be the single dominant one.

If someone makes a reddit clone somewhere else with more liberal admins, good for them. I wouldn't be going there. The fact that Lemmy is sectioned into servers is part of the appeal. I'm glad that I can be part of a server with very progressive administration. I would never get this level of moderation and support from any other social media. I'm fine with that meaning that uninformed people who just want to doom-scroll are less likely to come here.

We have seen growth periods time and again when problems arise with private social media companies. Each time, a little more people from the initial wave join for good. I think that's fine. Most lemmy servers are run for free by people who just believe in what we're doing here. We can always add more servers, but we can't handle the kind of traffic that reddit handles. We're entirely dependent on dedicated people investing large amounts of their time to create and maintain these spaces for us.

So long as the game in question doesn't block you for running linux (fortnight, for instance), then no, you are absolutely wrong. I get much better game performance on Arch Linux cachyos kernel than i do on windows 10. Every single time.

It's just a very literal direct example of American imperialism.

This is a rallying call. Get pissed off about it. Shout how Trump is a fascist, how he's ruining the country and taking everyones freedoms away. Shouting is how they've been winning the cultural political war. They own more media organizations and can be louder. If we say nothing, then the average person thinks what's happening is fine. You're not going to get people to riot if they aren't angry.

This is also a prime example of how Google cannot be trusted, and driving a wedge between the average person and Google is a very important and necessary thing for the anti fascist cause.

I started on Mint, then went to Arch Linux with Gnome. Now, I spend hours a day every day editing the dozens of config files for my Arch + Hyprland setup. I discovered NVIM plugins and decided to figure that out on my own instead of using one of the pre-made plugin packs. Now 90% of the software I use is cli. You can do anything from a terminal, and once you start it's hard to justify using bloated GUI applications instead. Especially once you make your TE and prompt pretty.

They already go after women, literally with legal persecution, for getting medically necessary abortions. Women dying for their control is absolutely acceptable in their eyes. I'm also convinced the reaction to this would be the same if her hysterectomy had been medically necessary.

I refer broadly to these as policies as "banning trans people in sports" for this exact reason. It is a de facto ban on our inclusion at all.

I don't think you fully understand what anarchism is. Lack of hierarchy does not mean no organizational framework. It means there are no hierarchies.

Nukes have no purpose existing to begin with. The best thing to do with them would be to dismantle them and use their resources for other things. I don't know why you have immediately decided to imagine an anarchist freed territory as requiring nuclear armaments. Or why you think the litmus test of whether a political ideology is valid or not depends on the answer to "can it allow for nuclear holocaust at the push of a button".

You seemingly have imagined that an anarchist revolution would intend to preserve the functioning of modern geopolitical superpowers. Needless to say, no. Anarchism in practical implantation results in societies that look dramatically different (including extent anarchist free territories). Ones that don't partake in overproduction and vast environmental destruction. Ones that are concerned principally with the well-being of the people who live within them.

Electoralism is bullshit to begin with. Trump shouldn't have been able to do what he's doing at all. An actual developed society shouldn't be susceptible to fascist takeover, because fascists should be unacceptable in government. And the president shouldn't be able to do anything they want with nothing but good faith holding them back. The American government fundamentally failed a long time ago. If Harris had won it wouldn't have been Trump, but she was far from a progressive and would not have changed the government in an attempt to preserve it against future fascist uprising.

Not to mention her commitment to Israel. Not to mention she was part of the Biden administration, and had a direct involvement in the American government's support for the Palestinian genocide.

Yes, it would've been better in many ways if she had won. But the choice never should've been between a neoliberal conservative and a fascist. America was broken under Biden, too. Not the way it is, nor the way it will be as Trump's kingdom rises. But it's far more nuanced than just "if she had won everything would be swell". And it's weird to point out non-voters as the problem, instead of like. The past 5 decades of American politics. The many many many people who did nothing to prevent this from happening over 50 years. The democratic party itself failed to meaningfully respond to his first presidency.

Yes if the people who had stayed home had instead voted, and voted for Harris specifically, she would be president and the outcome would be better for everyone. Undoubtedly. Like Weimar Germany though the government was already fundamentally broken and susceptible to the rise of fascism. To simply and immediately put blame on the voters ignores the actual reasons that situation even came about to begin with.

Cruelty is the point. The goal is to make the lives of impoverished people harder.

This unelected billionaire is an unapologetic nazi. He did a Nazi salute twice at the inauguration. He spreads Nazi ideology on his social media platform. He supports international Nazi causes. He is an open white supremacist on his social media platform and an open anti-semite.

He's now being given essentially limitless control over all federal agencies of the United States government. The Nazi takeover of America is already complete.

Yeah. It's hard to balance the need to know if i need to flee immediately with the massive amount of psychological damage from being aware of how dire the situation is. Like if I'm not well informed it could mean becoming stuck in a situation that is rapidly deteriorating. However if I am well informed then I just deal with constant panic attacks, worsening depressing, and spiraling mental health. I'm compromising by paying attention for a couple hours every few days and deliberately avoiding all news in the interim.

Deleted what I had written in this comment. It's just not worth it to invest energy going over this again. America is fucked and that especially includes people like me. The trans community is already facing widespread institutional violence like we never have before. Thanks to the rise of fascism. I wholeheartedly reject the need to blame a minority group for the problem and not those in power who actually ran on conservative pro-colonist ideology. This reality was arrived at with a Democrat in power. Electoralism doesn't work.

Illegal immigration is principally a clerical issue. A problem of documents. If you give them documents, then they're not illegal immigrants anymore. They're already doing the labor. They should be given legal recognition and protection.
