How could Canada deter an invasion? Nukes and mandatory military service

I'm anti authoritarian, and that necessarily includes compulsory enlistment. We can also invest in training and skill development without forcing people under threat of state violence to join a military. I am also opposed to the draft no matter where it is still practiced. Anti-draft riots were some of the earliest workers rights movements.
Yes, and I also think that it is wrong in all of those places, too. South Korea is one of the worst countries in the world in terms of the rights and equality of its citizens. It is also a turbo capitalist military state. Yes, I absolutely think it's wrong there, too.
I'm an anarchist. I'm anti involuntary servitude in all it's forms and I will never be a part of the military or perform duties in support of one. I would own a gun for my own sake, for the sake of my family and my community, but I will absolutely never be an agent of state violence. There is no room whatsoever for accommodation here. This would be a fucking nightmare scenario.
Does not change my response. I'm an anarchist. I am and will always be resolutely opposed to all forms of involuntary servitude especially those ones which obligate you into the service of a military.
Also only a few countries offer a truly non-military community service. Most civil service involves supportive efforts towards the military.
You seem to have missed the part where I'm an anarchist. Never said I was anti gun nor a pacifist. I am not having a gun pointed at my head and telling me to pick up a gun and march to the orders of a military. I would absolutely defend my community, i am also not being compelled by force into the service of a national military. Nobody should be obligated by force to participate in a war.
What happened to all the anti-authoritarians in the "fuck China" thread from the other day? I guess when it's Canadian authoritarianism it's good??
I will never use a gun in service of a state, nor perform any other function in support of the military of a state.
Wanna give it another read through?
There are very, very many downsides to mandatory enlistment. Fuck that to hell and back. I will never use a gun in service of a state, nor perform any other function in support of the military of a state. Let alone fucking nukes??? What is the point in resisting a military state if we create our own at home anyway?? So that we hang a red and white flag over the bodies of dead 18 year olds who had literally no fucking choice in going to war and dying for nothing? I genuinely can't tell if you're joking or not.
How can my car data, which in all connected vehicles from anywhere is already available and being sold online to whoever wants it, prove a security risk to Canada? How can they car censor me? And why would they want to? We all buy their shit constantly. You're living in a house that is, in all likelihood, half Chinese produced products. They want to sell their cars to us because they can undercut all the regional competition and make massive profits in our market.
China already provides at least half of the products we use in day to day life. If they wanted to strong arm us into joining their country, or whatever you mean by sovereignty, they could do so tomorrow by cutting us off. Significant sectors of our economy would collapse. I don't see why this would benefit them though. They don't have to turn themselves into an international pariah to get all our resources. We trade them willingly.
A far greater threat to our sovereignty is the neo nazi militarized dictatorship state to our south. We are going to have to do business with China. We are in a significantly worse position without them, and the lives of our citizens are drastically affected in that scenario. I don't at all buy that China is attempting to inject itself in Canadian society to censor talk about Tiananmen square or the ethnic cleansing of the Uyghurs. Whether we talk about those things or not changes nothing. Canada isn't prepping to invade China over human rights grievances or something.
In any case, EU and other East Asian markets do not have the EVs we are looking for. China is the world's leader in EV markets. Nearly every top EV company globally is Chinese. EU is buying Chinese EVs. Pretty much everywhere else is also buying them. Because the alternatives are invest in massive public transportation infrastructure (all for this) or develop a decades' worth of technology that China has and everyone else doesn't. The answer in that situation is pretty easy for most governments to make.
Canada is nowhere close to viable nationwide public transportation. If we started today, we could have it in maybe a decade. It's not happening at all right now. I happen to live in an area with none whatsoever. Local busses are twice a day kind of deal. If you have a job you need a car or to live within walking distance of your work. So I'm going to need a car for the foreseeable future. The car I can afford is a used gas engine car. Barring Chinese EV introduction to Canadian markets, I will be driving a gasoline car for at least another decade or 2. I can't afford to save up the kind of money needed to afford a new EV at the costs regional dealers are charging for them. It just won't happen. I also can't loan or lease because I'm not an idiot. So I'm stuck with gas until Chinese EVs are brought in or until another international manufacturer becomes competitive with them, which due to the technology divide, could be quite a while.
For all those reasons and more, yes I'd be absolutely delighted to hear that Chinese EVs were coming to Canada.
Can we actually get the 10 thousand dollar EVs please
They can spy on me all they want i have no fucking clue what i do that could possibly be beneficial to Chinese intelligence that they can't already readily find on the internet. We post everything. All the major American and Canadian corporations are already stealing and selling our data en mass. Their cars do too actually. Japanese cars as well. Any device with any connection to the internet does. Unless you're buying something explicitly opposed to that. And even then they still do half the time.
I'd like a cheap car that is efficient, long lasting, and well made please. Can we not also have a trade war with China. Let's not do that. It's not going to end well for America. I'd love to stop driving a gas car. I will almost certainly never be able to do so with American made vehicles. I'd love it if China flooded our auto market with EVs. Can we get a petition going lmao

By some estimates, 20% of the population is expected to be neurodivergent in one way or another. Autism and ADHD are wildly underdiagnosed to this day. Especially for AFAB people.

This man will kill millions of people.
It's time for a new underground railroad. Being sent to El Salvador is a death sentence. You're never coming home, and in all likelihood, I believe most people who are being/will be sent there will be executed. I don't even buy the forced labor narrative.
They're kidnapping US citizens based on skin tone and politics. The more they get away with it, the more they will escalate. In a month or two, it could be thousands of people a day. We don't even know the full extent of it because not every single person being kidnapped is a news story or has anyone to advocate for them. This is white supremacy in action. This is an advanced stage of ethnocide.
Resistance to this has to be violent, not my desire, nor am I stating my intent to do so. But it has to be. The law isn't going to stop them. Every deportation has to cost them as much as possible. In property, in money, in time and in public opinion. Every single person who has a cell phone needs to be ready to record and post online anything they see. Black bloc protests have to happen. ICE headquarters, facilities, and vehicles need to be trashed. Nothing else is going to make a difference. When people are being kidnapped, witnesses should record and intervene. Harass the officers. Block their way so they can't move. This is fascism, antifascist tactics are required to resist it.
I definitely cannot agree. I encourage anyone who has any issues with moderation to make a post in the Blahaj meta community. Ada and Kaity have been spectacular and have responded to every issue I have come across. There are limits, they can't preemptively prevent any kind of moderation issue but they respond quickly.
Youre absolutely welcome to join Blahaj zone. Our wonderful administration team (both of whom are women) bans misogyny whenever it comes around to our communities. The mods for our main communities share a very aggressive moderation policy.

No, because this is literally the fascist playbook. Glorification of slavery is fascism.
His primary goal is to manipulate the stock market to make him and his ruling class buddies richer. That's all. The fact they're in effect unimplementable is irrelevant to him.
I like that you repeated that 3 times for emphasis. Yeah they're a bunch of sociopathic sex pests.
Sure, by all means.
Education has direct benefits for literally every single aspect of society. It also is flawed in Canada and serves a large part in the means by which working class people are indoctrinated into nationalism and anti-socialist and anti-revolutionary politics.
Civil service is only a thing in select countries. The majority of countries that have mandatory enlistment do NOT ALLOW you to participate in any kind of service that isn't directly associated with the military. I am not a conscientious objecter, I am an anti-statist anarchist, and I am against involuntary servitude in every single way that it exists. I have no moral qualms about violence being used to further the well-being of the working class. I am anti nationalist in every single possible way and absolutely resolutely opposed to the draft. You're never going to get me to believe that compelling anyone UNDER THREAT OF STATE VIOLENCE to PERFORM LABOR is morally justifiable or beneficial. The draft was the beginning point of many aspects of the modern workers' rights movement. It is wrong no matter where it shows up. One of the most abhorrent aspects of society is the military. I'm a woman, have a look sometime at how often women get r*ed while in the military.
I'd happily pick up a gun. I am pro-gun ownership. I am anti military in every single conceivable way. Absolutely I would shoot nazis if they came here and I had weapons with which to shoot them. But no, a thousand times I will never join a military. It is indefensible to force civilians under threat of state violence into involuntary servitude. It definitionally isn't voluntary. It's wrong, wrong in every single way.
To your last bit, typical of anti working class conservatives like yourself. What's your response to native communities? Do you think that native Canadians should be forced under threat of state violence to join the Canadian military or otherwise be forced to do involuntary labor for the Canadian state?
I am living my values. My values are anti authoritarianism and pro workers rights. You clearly don't even know what anarchists are. Every major workers' rights movement in history has had large participation by anarchists. Anarchists are the ones who fought back against Stalinists in Spain and Ukraine. Anarchists were the primary force behind the workers' rights revolutions at the end of the 19th century. My anarchist beliefs are foundationally a part of my beliefs in the safety and well-being of working class people. I am not an egotistic isolationist. I am saying that categorically pointing a gun at someone and forcing them to do something is wrong. It's always wrong. Threatening violators with prison time is wrong. The draft is wrong, and it is one of the best parts about this country that we do not have one.
