Honestly, I get why one would be discouraged by signal, but as long as your threat model is not "NSA and mossad have a price on my head", I think it is still the best non-federated alternative. I'd rather take a flawed messenger with well regarded encryption than a beta version that nobody with time and crypto knowledge ever looked at.

1. This is not "Lemmy", this is Lemmy.world, which is as mainstream as is possible for Lemmy. Crying that all of Lemmy is like this smells like you never read past the headlines for the fediverse. You can say whatever you want on Lemmy, just don't force someone else to either host you or listen to you.
2. Various instances always had various levels of moderation and unacceptable content. If you don't like the policy, switch instances.

I am not sure if the bandwidth is really limited by the controller, or by the modulation / signal-to-noise ratios in practical scenarios.

I am not entirely sure what kind of radio fuckery happens, but my phone (Oneplus 6 with LineageOS) can be connected to a 5 Ghz wifi network and have a 5 GHz hotspot open at the same time.

I am assuming the wifi chip has two (or more) somewhat independent frontends, since my home wifi and the phone hotspot are on two different 5 GHz frequencies.

Of course it does(*).

(*): assuming you mean "works" in the sense of "turns on, lets me use it just fine, does everything that does not require an active cell connection"

Kind of the same here. I can go without cleaning, I just don't like it and my mood tanks.

My phone does that just fine. It's a Samsung limitation. All it does is create an access point and forward traffic via its default route.

Not really, I was really weird about showering for a while, I have kind of accepted that I need to be somewhat clean to have a proper, productive, happy day. Although I believe that being used to it plays a huge role.

As an engineer, Home Assistant (purely local smart home hub) is fucking awesome and only gets better.
