  • As much as I don't want to encourage this, because it's not the US I want to exist, but I feel like we're quite past that point. Trump and his cabal have more blood on their hands than we could possibly imagine, and they intend to keep going further and further, very openly too. History has show us time and time again how "democracies" fall, the ruling liberals being "tolerant" and allowing this shit to happen while claiming that THEY are TOTALLY winning. Since the democrats aren't even going to bother with any real campaigning or compromising to appeal to the people, what else is left? We are getting dangerously close to a kill or be killed scenario.

  • I don't think I ever managed to break it by plugging it in backwards, but they indeed brake constantly. Mine would always bend since they were so bloody thin. The only micro usb cable that didn't break is the one going to my PC tablet, which I barely move, every other one got bumped around enough, either in my backpack or just charging in bed/on the couch, to eventually break the contacts within a year or 2, 3 max.

I once got an adapter as a kid to plug in a controller, was super exited until I dropped it and stepped on it by accident with my naked squishy child feet, probably the fastest I ever broke one of these. Like what the actual fuck? Micros sucks so much!

  • I'm honestly at a loss as to why they are so popular. I barely remember the last time I enjoyed a AAA game. The only notable exceptions would probably be Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dishonored, which both work. Personally I haven't run into any games that wouldn't work and as much as I'd love to dismiss those (fucking atrocious) games, I get your point about it preventing popular adoption. Sadly it's not something Linux can easily fix, as long as companies insist on using windows specific versions of anti cheat software (despite Linux versions of the same stuff existing) just so they can have kernel access to your machine.

  • Isn't the monitor WAY too low in the "ergonomic" picture? Like yea, your view should be comfortably a bit below your eye level, but that's notebook level low. That's some hunched back action right there.

Edit: Maybe it's fine because it's far away? No clue, just looks hella uncomfortable.

  • Considering our IT department replaces computers without moving over our files (like come on, just swap the drives!), I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that's how they'd treat it.

  • I might be wrong and I'll be gladly proven wrong with a study, but every time someone says I have a fast metabolism just because I just ate a huge ass pizza right before their eyes, hurts my soul. Everyone that has tolled me this so far has a drastically different lifestyle from me. I don't eat that much most of the time, I often just get a salad or tuna sandwich. I also move my body a lot more, unless I absolutely have to use transit, I WALK. These people always cringe when I tell them I parked the car more than 5 mins of walking away and fucking refuse to walk to it with me.

  • (working with the assumption we mean stuff like ChatGPT) mKay... Tho math and logic is A LOT more than just statistics. At no point did we prove that statistics alone is enough to reach the point of cognition. I'd argue no statistical model can ever reach cognition, simply because it averages too much. The input we train it on is also fundamentally flawed. Feeding it only text skips the entire thinking and processing step of creating an answer. It literally just take texts and predicts on previous answers what's the most likely text. It's literally incapable of generating or reasoning in any other way then was already spelled out somewhere in the dataset. At BEST, it's a chat simulator (or dare I say...language model?), it's nowhere near an inteligence emulator in any capacity.

  • Have you read Trump's plan for his next turn? The fucker wants to go through with hefty important taxes on EVERYTHING (that's essentially putting sanctions on the US lol). Cheap groceries aren't a good prediction for a Trump term. I'd suggest listening to what he's saying. There's more that makes me think that cheap things aren't around the corner, the fucker has many things he wants to spend for, without any plans for increasing the budget.

  • I agree that it is heartbreaking that the democrats keep pushing candidates no one wants. But no amount of incompetence is a reason to give fascism a try. I don't live in America, but considering they run this joint, I'd hate for it to become a shitier Russia.

Biden is definitely not fit to do anything him self, but he's surrounded by good advisers and he actually fucking listens to them. Under his term not nearly as many horrific things happened as under trump. Trump's an immediate menace to the world order as we know it. I find it really ironic how he claims to be pro American, but actively destroys the reasons people look up to America and let it have so much influence in the first place.

  • It's already a disaster. It's been a disaster since last election. Anti opposition votes can only get you so far, before people start to feel indifferent, since their voices clearly don't matter in the slightest.

  • The why do they immediately run away upon realizing a human is near by? Like I'm talking about strays here, they only gather outside my widow when there's no one around and I'm quite in my room.

  • Nothing generates more than nuclear (like it's not even comparable), it has basically zero emissions and there are countries like Finland who'll happily let you burry it there, tho you ofc don't need to go that far away. You don't need to dispose it nearly as often as coal ash, so it being in another country ain't really that big of a deal.

Ofc solar is also a great option, because of the versatility, sadly German seems to really fucking love wind.

  • Oh thank god... Apparently they aren't destroying it YET. There is hope. Personally, I'd feel a lot safer if it went into more nuclear loving hands, like the French or Czech, actually, most of Germany's neighbors would do.

  • Looks like I'm a bit behind on the latest news, I mean in 2015 it (basically) alone was still half of their energy production. That's quite the explosion, too bad it's largely wind power and...biomass??? Right it's "renewable©® (in theory)", not "sustainable right now or benefitial to the current situation". Same to the natural gass growth, guess it's better than coal, but come on... And to my original point, in your graph we can see a negative corelation between coal+lignite over nuclear at a few ranges (when they shut down nuclear over fucking coal), roughly starting after 2005. Also wow, they actually fucking killed nuclear last year... JESUS...
