[OC} A fangipani flower as its starting to open. Several unopened buds are visible behind it.

It's a godsend and apparently installable in mobile Firefox, though not searchable or shown as available in the list of mobile extensions
Thank you for the offer. I don't have questions for you. Just wanted to point out that I think it's understandable that people, including me, tend to be hesitant to believe that a Libertarian or Centrist doesn't turn out to be far right on the political spectrum.
But for me, the political US as a whole seems to be skewed right. Both parties are right-wing to my European eyes so even a 'true' centrist, in between those two, ends up far right.
I'd say it's a valid opinion, though based on ignorance. When you grow up indoctrinated by your environment you'd have a hard time losing your bias on your own.
If you'd only have met mean people of a certain 'group' in your life it's understandable to form a negative opinion based on that. Even if you know that this might just be bad luck on your part it's still your experience.
It comes down to one's willingness to remain open minded and actually learn differently. One shouldn't condemn others based on that but it's understandable to be biased and 'careful'.
I have a bias regarding many classic right wing opinions and a hard time to not assume that a person with a strong opinion on a certain topic also ticks off all other related opinions. While I think my bias to think of any Republican or Libertarian being right-wing is valid, based on my experience, it's still a bias and won't hold true to every individual I 'classify' this way.
If all previous experiences are negative and the actual definition seems outlandish, that's a valid opinion. It's not your fault if you never learned of non-negative examples.
The only question is how to apply this bias. The harm in assuming libertarians as Republican doesn't seem critical to me. I haven't made any other experiences so maybe I'm just as biased.
But maybe you're simply the only one living your non-right interpretation/definition of libertarianism. I'd have to hear your point of views to actually believe it.
*I've read some things about 'true' libertarianism in the past but couldn't find any community living it. It's like all those guys on hexbear preaching to be the most loving people while spewing hate and fascist opinions wherever they can.
Most of the Republicans seem to be so far right that those few moderate-right Republicans would have to distance themselves clearly to actually represent their position. If you distance yourself from all those "LINOS" (do I have to give Trump credit for this?) that others and me see everywhere, then you might be rather alone, I'd wager.
You're right! Guess they got the concrete texture quite right.
Cheers! I appreciate the small insight into the names that are common to people with some knowledge about these different types.
So far, I might have a chance to name Dohle, Nebekrähe correctly and maybe have a good chance of picking Rabe, rather than Krähe due to its size, and being somewhat right about that.
I'm always thankful if someone can tell me right away what things are called.
Haha Clichées sind dafür da erfüllt zu werden.
Yeah as a kid i thought raven were much bigger and had orange beaks. Rather late I learned that ravens are usually just large crows. Personally, I don't care much but at least try to learn and use the proper names of things. At least in German, using Krähe seems to be a safe bet in any case.
Nah it's alright, the RF series is rather niche still and when it's much more reasonable (price per quality) I might as well use an EF with the adapter. As my always-on lens is the RF 24-240mm (very useful for travel when you don't know what you'll do that day), the size&weight of EF 1.4 + adapter would still be quite a bit less.
Apparently, I can rent it via a service for 20 or so bucks a month. That's fair.
Yeah I can imagine how quickly that got old when tens of comments are just that very same spiel. But still I wonder how I've missed that since I've spent quite a bit of time on reddit and really enjoyed reading up on these major events of reddit-history.
grab my [...] for its size and weight and wish I had brought my [...] instead.
Story of my (photo-) life haha. It's so hard not to feel sad when you find a situation where a certain piece of equipment you left at home would've been sooo much better suited for the task. But you just can't carry all lenses, a tri-pod and a flash with you everytime you leave the house. Even taking the camera is hard enough sometimes...
Thanks for the suggestion of renting it. Might give that a shot. There might even be a service for it I've used before. I wouldn't like to pretend-buy something just to test it, though I'd probably keep it after what you've told me.
Sadly, there's not 1.4 RF lens so I would have to use the EF-adapter as well. But considering the weight and size that should still be quite acceptable. Not sure if there's a trade-off regarding image quality when using the adapter but probably not enough for me to notice anyway.
Haha thanks for preventing history from repeating itself on Lemmy. I shouldn't be surprised that there's already drama behind stating that jackdaws are, essentially, crows...
Done! It's !birding@lemmy.world apparently
Alright, but who said that?
From what I've read, the general image quality of the 'cheap' EF/RF 50mm 1.8 is very similar to that of the much more expensive 1.4 or 1.2 versions. At least from F1.8 and up, that is.
I'd prefer the better lenses, of course, simply for the faster and less noisy focus but I'd have to pay 12x what I've paid for the RF 50mm 1.8! It's just insane.
Same as with audio equipment, I'm still at a level where I can see, as a fact, that money is still a limiting factor and not just my skill level.
One of my first shots with the RF 50mm F1.8 lens. It's one of those photos where I realize just how much difference equipment (sensor size + glass + camera software) can make. My Rebel T3 could never have matched this smooth lightning.
Probably a jackdaw. According to wikipedia this still counts as a raven, therefore as a crow!
Shot in a harbour in northern NL.
Thank you!
Yeah it's really lacking something in order to make it a good pic in itself. Wasn't sure whether to post it since it's just a mildly interesting snapshot.
What a pretty flower! Thanks for sharing.
