I still have a BD-RE drive in my current setup. It almost never sees any use, but it's definitely nice to have the option should I ever require it.

I just keep thinking... This war has already changed the face of warfare forever because of the drones. But all those drones used on these frontlines are just "dumb" ones, individually operated remotely.

I assume USA (and possibly other players) are working HARD on creating autonomous swarms of these things. Being able to C&C these without a single point of failure is THE future in modern warfare. The first nation that gets this working flawlessly wins supremacy.

Same way anesthesiology works. We don't know. We know how to sedate people but we have no idea why it works. AI is much the same. That doesn't mean it's sentient yet but to call it merely a text predictor is also selling it short. It's a black box under the hood.

It's not anytime soon. It can get like 90% of the way there but those final 10% are the real bitch.

Nope. Managed to stay off of it for my entire life so far. Reason for it was that back in '05 or a bit later one of the very first things I learned about the nascent Facebook, was Zuck's famous "Dumb fucks" remark about his early users. I rightfully concluded that someone with such a mindset would be an absolutely plague on mankind and I would never willingly help them in any way, no matter how insignificant.

I would sooner put my nuts in an iron vice while running 10.000 volts through it and lighting it on fire than provide Facebook with anything at all.
