Ya I've got the same issue, I really miss the expansive discussions in the comment sections and niche communities, I think over time they'll pop up. Lemmy is great but still has lots of growing up to do.

so heres where I disagree, if you're paying the minumum you're attracting the minimum, the reverse can be said for the worker, why work here when I can get more elsewhere? with pegging the top and bottom rungs of the ladder and spreading the income everyone is motivated to come in to work everyday because they know that if they take care of their work, their work will take care of them. I don't think thats radical. everyone wins.

I stand by my opinion that CEO pay should be pegged to the "lowest" employee on the totem pole, everyone should ride the wave and spread out the earnings. Its just gross how it currently is.

thats not even how that works lol, share price is more of a popularity contest.

Ya I went straight cash a while ago, I use to have some holdings but I got really bearish a while back (still am) so I just jump in with options here or there, nice quick in/out when yhings are moving, not too greedy. I went back to school a while back so I really don't have time to watch the market so I'm a little out of practice, more of a hobby until I get back into the workforce and have some time and play money. Until then I have to be really conservative.

My lottery is open 9:30-4 mon-fri and its called the NYSE.

I dunno there have been rumours that their IPO is just around the corner for years now, idk how they justify it reddit just isn't set up for that sort of growth model. Its users (at least before all the nonsense) I'd say are on average more likely to use 3rd party apps, ad blockers and not engage with the kind of activity that normally creates revinue (thats frankly why I'm here I'm a reddit refugee from appolo). My guess is all this activity is prep for going public but I just can't see it going well.

I just wanna look at memes, cats, and news and hang out in the comment section without being exposed to ads, is that too much to ask?I hope their IPO sucks and they get shorted i to oblivion while they bleed off users month over month, because thats whats going to happen if they keep pulling this sort of stuff.

Theres no creativity anymore, I bet most of it is AI spam these days. Most analysis is just surface-level, sometimes even just straight up wrong. The other one that drives me nuts is "this" where they try to get you to click on the link and rake in some ad revinue, I just hate ads so much it makes me do the oposite lol

Anyone else think the word slam gets used too much? Its kind of lost its meaning, I'd like to see more creative words used like suplexes or RKO

If I had my way I'd make as many services public as possible. I cant stand tge fact that I pay taxes and the "public" transportation (train/bus/subway) isn't free. Imagine how much pocket change you would have if energy companies, telecoms (cell/wifi), and transportation were all gov-run? All that said I have no idea how that would translate in practice, its a nice little daydream I had.

I got my ragdoll that and instead of nibbling he took a whole mouthful, bit down, picked the whole thing up and wrung it around like a dog that just got a squirrel, he sprayed grass, seeds and dirt all over lol. He's a bit of a bam bam.

This hits home, I've got an MSC and years of experience in my field in a research setting (pathology/histology) and I'm going back to get certified for med lab and oh my god is it ever unfriendly for mature students. I've been through some stressful times in life and every time I say "wow that was brutal, at least i'll never be this stressed out ever again" and this is far and away the most stressed out I've ever been, the program is insane. its not complicated, its just a firehose of convoluted lectures, readings, assignments, half the time I'm just trying to organize everything, they just offloaded everything onto the student. I barely have time to make dinner, I can't remember the last time I had an hour to myself between school and my old lab, there aren't enough hours in a day. I'm never going back to school after this, it'll be worth it in the long run but this'll probably take a few years off my lifespan.

I just went back to school to get a technical degree after 5 years working, school is definitely worse. I know its only temporary but I hate my life right now lol

I've stumbled upon the clip too, its pretty messed up. I've spent a fair bit of time around horses so I know they're mostly gentle giants with unique personalities (obviously there are the odd outliers) but that clip totally makes you jump and go woah!
