This game (and the people behind it) are definitely deserving of the price if you have any love for this genre of games at all. I wish all games had this level of attention to detail and love poured into them over the years.

I too was a bit skeptical at first when I bought it on the Steam release but its been one of the best game purchases I've made in years easily. This is one of those games you'll come back to time and time again over the years.

I still don't know how a lot of the tools in DFHack aren't just baseline in the game at this point they are that good.

I remember seeing news articles about how people were allegedly getting "stressed out from lack of social contact" and I'm over here with my family enjoying being left the hell alone, able to relax for a change and not deal with other peoples expectations and boring ass social events that we're usually forced to go to. Being able to just play 100 days of video games and only work when I absolutely had to was great.

What it showed us was that all the bullshit about having to be "productive members of society" and the focus on productivity was exactly that. Western society could function just fine and be a lot happier if the 1% didn't get handed yet another ivory back scratcher.

I fully expect a lot of the younger generations to say "fuck it" and just live in poverty instead.

I'm already seeing this attitude in my adult son and his friends and it's getting increasing hard to motivate him when he sees no light at the end of the tunnel to work for.

It makes you wonder how much things have actually really changed under the surface when you realize that it's only their great grandkids that are still in charge of things today.

My mother is already kinda facing that and I feel like it's almost treason for politicians to keep extending the retirement age on all of us.

A safe space doesn't entitle a child to do and possess whatever they want in their parents home nor does it give them a right to privacy if a parent suspects they might be breaking the rules or the law. OP doesn't specify what they're trying to hide from their parents but it's probably vapes, drugs or other stupid stuff adolescents get up to that they shouldn't.

It's not abuse to properly parent your child even if the child doesn't like it.

This was me for many years when I joined the military. But then it fucked me up and gave me PTSD and now it's about the most productive thing I'm capable of aside from posting terrible memes so I can totally see how our generation will retire back into video game connoisseurs now.

If you killed political donations, cushy job prospects post politics and the crazy idea that corporations are somehow people deserving of representation it might go a long way to purging these cookers from the system.
