  • Makes me wonder if the Yes campaign was deliberately shit to achieve exactly that. Surely they knew that they could establish it anyway without constitutional support and prove that it worked and could be trusted before going for a full referendum.

  • Last time I looked at the count 40% of indigenous people voted against the voice, there's definitely no good/bad side in this regardless how some might choose to vilify others. We have compulsory voting as well.

  • This is correct, mob in this context is a number of indigenous people belong to one particular community. There are various different mobs out there which is one of the reasons why a singular controlled voice was never going to work.

  • I've had doctors literally Google right In front of me and then base their treatment plan directly off what they find on their screen.

Like, why am I paying you $80 bucks for this?

Its dangerous because not only is it lazy but it sets a bad example for a patient who gets the impression that it's perfectly ok to do this themselves too rather than see a doctor.

  • By being on Lemmy World you are also automatically on any other instance the server federates with. That's the neat part, you don't have to worry too much about it as a user.

  • Hmmmm

  • I'm curious about how this is done. Do they just kick Palestinians out of their homes or do they make new towns or what exactly happens that is so effective at displacing others?

  • Feel free to do an art degree on your own dime then.

Art will still be made and exist without degrees in it being necessary. However, doctors for example cannot.

  • University study for useful degrees that benefit society should be free and paid for by society. It used to be the case in my country until they decided to take a leaf out of America's book and screw everyone over.

So for example, something like an art degree should be paid (with no interest imo) however most STEM degrees should be free. Same with nursing and similar degrees too.

It's ok if these free degrees come with strings attached, such as having to work and apply your skills in the country for X years as a minimum.

  • Yes, paying them a living wage was assumed.

  • In the Western country that I'm in the propaganda has been flying thick and fast all day today on every single media outlet there is about this. You can tell they're trying to justify a lot of bad things that are about to happen and have already begun.

  • I can already picture the episode of Highway Patrol now where Johno gets caught for the fifth time in the same car and cops a couple hundred bucks fine and the loss of a demerit point.

  • We have this option to redirect parcels to a locker but it's less efficient then just having it delivered. A post service here batches all deliveries for an area together so they can make them all in one trip.

Compare that to each individual family having to drive their own car to the post office and it's clear what is better over all. There is few means to use public transport here however, it's an almost hour trip by bus there and back on a good day vs 15 minutes in a car.

  • Postman must knock and wait 5 minutes for you to answer the door by law. If you have proof that they didn't knock or wait the required time they must redeliver the parcel by way of barbershop quartet at a time that is convenient for you.

  • There are people on here that nitpick the format of the meme, insist that it should instead be posted on some other random instance because of the category and everything in between. I couldn't care less what they think but there's usually enough where they'll report it regardless.

On Lemmy you are much better off keeping the memes fairly tame on any of the major instances at least. If you know of an instance that ain't like this let me know.

  • I see.. but I still don't get the joke.

It's like saying Austria and Australia have similar names you but just gotta change the letters a bit.

  • I think a lot of people are which is why my more spicy stuff is usually upvoted a lot but there are unfortunately at least a minority that can't handle it sometimes and that's gotten me in a little trouble before.

  • Yes I too have found out the hard way on this.

  • I may be stupid but I don't understand what this image is trying to communicate to me. It just looks like a line between two islands with a bunch of nonsensical words to me.
