  • Far from perfect, and with rising inequality, but Denmark has generally been relatively decent when it comes to taxing the rich and high-income individuals.

As born in the 90s I'm expected to retire at the earliest by 72. I don't understand this at all though - I'm expecting a reduced need for labourers as many things become increasingly automatised anyway, so it's an entirely wrong focus in the first place.

  • They do have the mandate of the people since It is a democratically elected government, no matter how rotten it is and how bad of a system gerrymandering etc is. Of course every American doesn't agree with these idiots, thankfully, but it's not like they swooped in by coup d'etat. They're doing exactly what they promised to do, supported by ~35% of American people and accepted by the silent ~35% who didn't bother voting.

  • Absolutely not. As a Dane, our politicians and companies are just as capitalist and opportunist as elsewhere. Our corrupt government has been a major supporter of Israel, including in the weapons trade, and we, for example, just invited the US military to freely use our military bases for the next 10 years. I'm happy to see if popular pressure works.

  • I love seeing that various forms of protest and pressure actually works! Unfortunately, companies tend to go where they think the capital is, so it's for the common people to bring about change and to pressure them in the right direction (unfortunately).

  • I get that it's a frustrating accusation, but as a man I recognise it as generally true, even if I don't resonate with it. Women rarely commit mass shootings, rapes, stabbings, forced drugging, muggings. The people causing trouble in my neighbourhood are exclusive male teenagers and the only genuine threat to me ever is by other men. And no, it's of course not an inherent feature in male genetics, nor is it anything close to "all men", but it's a cultural issue based on how we're raised and it should be fair game to discuss it - although with a better tone than what's normally applied.

  • I'm not even talking about you, am I? This idea is literally everywhere I look by Westerners who can't find their own assholes. If calling these twisted points of view out is a problem for you then deal with that.

That they haven't done anything to you is irrelevant. Israel hasn't either. In fact no one has, since America is the global state supreme.

  • My parents are refugees from Iran. They've done us plenty. And now I see Westerners talking like Iran is the saviour of the Middle East and that the regime is a poor victim of Western imperialism. Israel is a terror state but so is Iran. No innocent people should ever be bombed, and every civilian is a victim of greedy old men getting young men murdered for resources or pride - but it does piss me off to continuously see people who don't understand the region whatsoever form strong opinions on it based on Tiktok and Gaza.

  • Is there a way to visit for a couple of days (Not for Bezos' wedding lmao) wirhout being a nuisance and supporting local business/people as much as possible or is it better to just stay away? We dream of flying there, seeing the cities and then going to the Dolomites.

  • You must understand this is the zeitgeist. The entirety of the Middle East are victims, including mullahs, Taliban, autocrats and sheikhs. Crazy how people can't at least view it from two sides or in grey tones.

I won't disagree that the Western-led world order has created instability in the region and worldview, but I sincerely doubt that an Islamic world order would be in any way better. Most are just jealous that they don't get to do the exploitation

  • My main issue in discussions on religion is that either side generally claims that either "it makes us civil", as you say, or that "it's the cause of evil". In reality it's neither. Religion has traditionally been (still is, I'm afraid) a powerful form of crowd control that in past times has steered some believers into doing better deeds by the duality of the hell-heaven system, and likewise has twisted others into extremism and using religion as justification for evil acts. Most of the time it's just a simple way of life that rids you of the need to question the universe and to carve your own path. As a "Muslim" I sometimes, in some ways, envy those that simply view the etiquettes, laws, and traditions that govern their lives as unquestionable truths. There's no need to search for purpose, you're already born with it.

Humans are flawed and evil. That is true with or withour religion.

    Sorry for rambling.

  • Realistically let's start with actual control over Gaza and the West Bank and access to, you know, stuff like food, water, medicine, education, and other things considered "human rights" when it's related to the right people. Abolishing illegal settlements would be welcomed as well.

Israel should've never existed but it does and it will continue to do so.
