  • Now to actually punish them, oh wait that probably won't happen?

  • I'm not a technical person, can't be bothered for that. In the end for tools like this its important non-tech people can also use it

  • I've never quit using teamspeak but I'd never see it as an alternative for the chatting functions of discord (neither private or server wide). Calling and screensharing on it is superior for sure, chatting is garbage.

  • I haven't tried it yet but opening Element in browser it does have a call option

  • I just checked and indeed it does! Didn't know that before, although I do think Revolt is more user friendly to non-tech people so will probably be a better choice for people to migrate to.

Teamspeak 6 released a month or so ago and has Peer2Peer screenshare, it works great!

  • I'm concerned but also interested

  • Reminder that we have a european alternative called Revolt we can always switch to!

Another alternative is Element for chatting and Teamspeak for Calls/Screenshare!

  • The image they use literally just looks like an escape room group 😭

  • The average quality of games has both gone up in terms of graphics and smooth gameplay but down on being interesting and innovative. I'd say this is also kind of part of the issue.

Baldur's Gate 3 in my opinion was allowed to cost more than 60 euros just because it was so well made and was innovative for the genre.

Mario Kart 9 Open World though? It's literally just mario kart again but with a kinda useless open world, why should that cost 80 euros?

  • Just as a sidenote here, the "issue" with steam is that it doesn't have any real competition. Steam just does everything better than any other game launcher and that's probably in part because of their policy.

On the gamedev side they allow you to market to a huge audience as a small creator and give you a chance to make it big (think Balatro, Signal 1, and a lot of other indie games as of recent)

On the gamer side they've made buying, updating and doing anything around the games so much easier than it used to be and not a single launcher has been able to do it as good as them. They've released one of the best VR headsets on the market that still hasn't been beaten years later. They've released the first good Linux based PC handheld both giving a huge boost to that market and improving proton so gaming on Linux is actually possible (outside of games with anti-cheats that don't allow linux)

I'm not saying them taking 30% from almost any sale done on steam is good, but at least they are able to give a service for it that not a single other company has done, they're probably the most pro gamer company in the industry right now (together with game studios like Larian)

Also, yes devs should be paid a lot more for their work and the average person should also have a higher salary to beat inflation cause life is just too damn expensive!

  • Currently trying to S all the maps with some friends. All I can say is that some maps are bugged (The base game crackhouse, the DLC drugpen and cult map) with guns falling through the map a lot (other maps can have this sometimes but these maps have it constantly), the rest of the game is super fun!

Once you've finished all the maps I highly encourage trying non-lethal runs

  • Omg that's adorable

  • Saving this one to use when this eventually happens again

  • So the rich made IP law to make more money but now the even richer want to abolish it? Sounds great

  • That's what we're for in the end

  • I work in QA, even devs who've worked for 10+ years make dumb mistakes every so often. I wouldn't want to do QA when AI is writing the software, it's just gonna give me even more work 🫠

  • I absolutely hate this, thanks
