  • It looks better than my local hot springs

  • Does anybody know a good Nigerian movie to watch? I watch a lot of international cinema but never watched anything from there.

  • Yeah I saw it too. They made a whole deal out of it, like they were making the best journalistic piece but they said nothing that wasn't already said before. I get asking Volkert why he did it but it's not the most important thing right now and doesn't need 39 minutes. They're lucky I had time to kill otherwise I wouldn't have watched it all.

  • Met with friends lately, and I was actually able to convince one of my friends of some of my opinions. He's an apolitical but actually right wing worker. We were talking about the trade war and I said we should more trade with countries others than the USA. He agreed. When I asked if he's in favour of better relations with China, he was unsure. I then said that China will try to leave you alone while the US forces you into agreements that mostly benefit them. He saw my point and agreed.

I asked him a while later if he thinks that socialism is better than capitalism, and after a little thinking he agreed.

At the end of the meetup colonial reparations were brought up, don't remember why. He said that colonial reparations are useless since former colonies are independent now amd should develop themselves. I talked to him about neocolonialism and used Indonesia as an example of western countries and companies still controlling their former colonies and stealing the wealth. He was unsure of that. I then talked about how some countries try to stop the neocolonialism and try to develop their own country first to make the lives of their citizens better. I used Burkina Faso and their mines as an example.

A little while later, he came to me and said, actually I think you're right.

I also remember a couple months ago when we were talking about Ukraine and he thought that Putin started the war and that he did so because he was afraid of losing support. I told him that I think it was because of geopolitics and that Russia felt threatened by increased military presence at its border. He thought I made a good point and that he hadn't thought about that.

I think he's the friend that is the most willing to become a socialist. An other friend of mine is apolitical and never wants to talk about politics even if the conversation is about it. He was completely quiet during my discussion with this friend. And another friend is a right winger with racist views. He did listen but didn't seem to be convinced by my arguments. I also really want to call him out for his racist views but didn't dare to do it.

  • I was at a demonstration yesterday and there were anarchists flying the Palestinian and Ukrainian flags side by side.

  • A song I listen to, Nunarput by Nuuk Posse, got deleted from Spotify and there seem to be no other copies online. Gotta love streaming services.

  • I think a lot of people who were present don't think that Palestine needs to be free, but just think that Israel went too far. Some people who shouted from the river to the sea, were literally heckled.

  • Let me post a beautiful landscape as well:

  • Interesting, thought that Belgians would be more open

  • What's different in the mentality between southern Dutch and Belgian people? I thought that southern Dutch and Belgian culture was the same.

Sucks to hear tho. Is there a Dutch immigrant community you can connect to?

Congrats on you team becoming champions btw. I wish it was us.

  • We had a huge protest in the Hague yesterday with 100.000 people protesting against the Dutch government's stance on Israel. I was there as well. It got sort of coopted by liberals though with some political parties that were silent or supported the genocide taking part. But this protest shows that the people support the Palestinian people. But I feel like this protest was kind of wasted. 100.000 people could've shut the city down. We could've squatted the parliament building, but instead we were walking around the city and the government probably won't listen to us. Although there is more pressure on them now, which is good.

  • Israel almost won Eurovision and got second place. They also won the televote by a wide margin. Glad I didn't vote and watched from an illegal stream. A contest where this is normal shouldn't get my viewership and votes.

  • Went to the local asian supermarket for the first time yesterday and I'm definitely coming back. They have so much more instant noodle brands and flavours than my regular supermarket. And a lot of ingredients and snacks that they don't have in other supermarkets.

I got Vietnamese instant noodles with shrimp taste, it was pretty delicious.
