  • Windows put a watermark on your desktop and locks you out of personalization if you don't pay.

Watermark can be disabled with a simple registry editor change. Or the entirety of windows can just be activated with a single command prompt command.

Even if you're not into pirating, you can use windows without a key without issues. They honestly don't care.

  • Same, but I switched back today. DaVinci Resolve doesn't support AAC audio on Linux, even on the paid version (literally everything uses AAC audio). The closest thing to any kind of usable photo editor is photopea, and that's web only.

Linux is just unusable for media creation, unfortunately.

  • Why? They did it without the pardoning, and he walked away with his hands "clean" by not acknowledging what they did.

Personally I think it's funny seeing these people get time in prison, screaming for Trump to acknowledge them and pardon them lol.

  • Denuvo games that have been unpirated for years. Software that is not cracked. Not everything is piratable, unless you're some magic person that can do it.

I mean shit, can you even get a copy of DaVinci Resolve Studio 18 for Windows right now?

  • I personally have a kill-a-watt. A device that measures how many kWh it uses.

Then I see how much it uses per day (you can leave it plugged in to test longer, or you can do like an hour and times that by 24), and see how much my power company charges per kW.

It's actually pretty fun. Devices that you think would be pretty expensive to run end up being pretty cheap, and the things that you think would be pretty cheap end up being pretty expensive.

Like my AC unit is cheaper than my NAS. Never would've guessed it.

  • I'm not arguing against Linux. Use whatever you want. It's just stop acting like Linux is GUI friendly when it's extremely dependent on if the dev is competent or not.

Also, whatever OS you use wont save you in data breaches. Just because you use Linux doesn't mean your Ashley Madison affair data is safe.

  • They can see who you talk to, when you talk to them and the type of messages (text/images/videos).

If your speaking to someone at the same time they are googleing a new trampoline, Google can infer your likely to be interested in trampolines as well.

That's such fuzzy data that it really doesn't matter at all. Point is, my messages are encrypted, and Google can think I want a trampoline if they want to think that.

Plus you said Google wants everyones messaging data, but they literally aren't getting it. So no, that's not why they are pushing it hard.

Apple can also run their own RCS servers (my carrier does). They simply aren't supporting RCS because they LIKE that Android is shamed for having green bubbles. It would hurt Apple if their phones were more compatible with Android.

  • No, unfortunately. The guy seemed really mad. Calling the other guy a moron, idiot, and telling him to apologise. From what I could see from the comments, it seems like the one guy visited the angry guys website, and the guy threatened to use his IP to find out where he lived. Then used threats about how it's nice to sleep at night without fear, and that if you piss the wrong people off you'll know.

All because the guy was having Linux issues and said windows worked better for them. I only found the thread because I'm also having the same issues lol.

  • Thankfully the front page was not super graphic for me. Still cp, but it was a portal for logging into your account.

Scary part was the photos that were shown, the girls looked very abused. Obviously cp is abuse, but I mean they looked VERY abused and used. Clearly some trafficking shit.

I also immediately uninstalled Tor. I understand it has other uses, but I don't really need Tor anyway. I was just goofing around and found out.

  • It's $2 per month. That includes the unlimited(?) bandwidth, too.

I can upload and delete and download as much as I want, as long as I have free space.

If you're interested, you can run your own NAS. I also do it, and just the power alone is $1 per DAY. Paired with the fact HDDs fail, so you can be expected to replace your drives every 3ish years. I just replaced one of mine, cost me $600. I'm sure another drive will be failing in the next year or so. Plus parity drives to help with any data loss, which essentially means paying for a really massive drive, but not getting to use any of it.

So ya. $2 for unlimited bandwidth, no power cost, no worrying about data loss, that's pretty good.
