  • I find this somewhere interesting.

Kind of dovetails with that apparently "open question" in people's minds regarding if animals feel pain.

That has always troubled me... to see articles over the decades with titles like "scientists find out pigs and dogs can be happy".... Like no shitttttt.

I would have liked to know how the pain exactly was measured. Perhaps I'm not wearing my glasses but I didn't see that anywhere in the article.

But it was curious to see that suffering of animals is measurable in a quantifiable way,. Ig?

  • Why is it that I cannot find a science community that actually posts good science?

I mean it could be argued that discussing the myth of spontaneous combustion, is in a way pop science for a lot of people and that's okay.

But I just can't seem to find a place that isn't saturated with either finger-puppet style posts, or completely overwhelmed with new "theories" that are actually just new, jobless phd grads who have to scramble to try to get funding and they're publishing bullshit to do that.

    Whyyyyyy

  • Putting a bunch of unskippable bullshit in front of a game I'm doing to play.

I don't need to know how much you all jerk yourself off to your own studio's logo.. I just wanna play. Can you get that shit out of my face please or let me courtesy-skip it after 1 second?

  • Yes! And from the perspective of somebody who managed buildings: Any residential structure built in the last 10 years is subject to horrendous levels of breakdown and failure, due entirely to substandard materials and overall build quality.

Building sprinkler systems springing leaks behind major walled areas. AC systems failing to the point of needing seals and recharge in 3 years. Alarm systems in perpetual state of ground-fault due to improperly installed wiring or water leaking where it shouldn't be. Water-hammer effect everywhere. Plumbing joints springing leaks left, right and center as a result. Doors falling off, every single knob in a 120-suite structure needing replacement after 3 years.

    Its utterly disgraceful.

  • People don't understand that when the site started, the goal was to make it a content fire hose.

At no point did they ever want to give users control over content. Spez did it begrudgingly.

The only reason they let people post is because they could not sustain the fakery forever. The only reason they made communities is because politics took over.

    They have always hated us.

  • They used to IP ban. Which sometimes can be circumvented by turning off your Modem and letting it get a new IP after 24h. This of course is ISP dependent but most do not give static IP addresses by default, you just get a 'kinda' static one because your modem never really disconnects.

  • I don't know dude, they've been boiling the frog, so to speak, on us users since day one.

It's been such a gradual contortion from what it started to what it's become. But it's finally come to what Spez wanted it to be in the first place. Aaron would want no part of this piece of shit.

  • I'm very gender fluid even though I'm straight af. I don't even know what the hell's going on with my gender identity to be honest I don't know the magic words and I don't even care because I accept myself for who I am finally. I would have loved to know it's okay to not align myself or portray myself as the stereotypical man because I don't feel that way inside. Basically I'm agreeing with you but in my own way.

  • My father had been repackaging a gigantic pack of raw chicken breasts into smaller freezer packs.

There was raw chicken juice all over the cutting board, the counter, everywhere basically.

He grabbed a cleaning cloth and wiped the counter down, then without rinsing it, proceeded to wash his face with it.

Yes, I grew up with a tremendous amount of food issues because of my father. He poisoned us nearly weekly. It was only in my later adulthood where I simply established a rule that I would not eat a single thing that he prepared.

  • When I would go to restaurants with my grandfather he would down all the available ketchup, cream, honey, jam packets, etc.

He grew up in the depression, and his attitude was if it was on the table, it's his to eat.

Yeah I watched him do a lot of shooters of keychup up in my life.

  • I love that you hold the line with animals and you don't subscribe to that fantasy that a lot of lazy pet owners do that you simply let them do what they want because they're pets.

No, they are highly intelligent, and they only do what you let them.

I simply would not allow my cats anywhere near my room, they would hover at the threshold when they wanted something but they knew shit's going to hit the fan if they set one foot in there.

And a dog from years ago, I loved her but I would not tolerate her being anywhere near me or begging when food came into the picture. I taught her through my consistent actions that she's going to be sent away. So she learned to sit near me but always look elsewhere. If she's so much as raised an eyebrow at me or turned towards me while I was eating, she got sent away.

It's really easy to train pets you just have to not be the laziest in the world which apparently is most owners.
