Idiots and the uninformed love bullies, they assume they must be bullying people that deserve it, instead of just whoever makes them feel stronger.

Oh agreed that this is really important. Literally he is taking a seat on a council of 100 people who are supposed to be the best and most representative of their constituents and yelling about people being nice to him. He needs to step down.

But also the comments in here are smug. Lemmy is not a place for nuance or empathy but vague superiority based on some form of intellectualism that is not owed or earned.

People just feel good about complaining about him and view it as a space to dish out their milquetoast worse. Nothing here is helpful for the real world.

Nah you just start that way and never change or adapt your understanding of anything. Heck you are already there with being able to misread comments and jump to conclusions about other people's statements cause it makes you feel better if you think they are looking down at you thus giving you early permission to be condescending back.

Nah I can close this app and not care to check for days.
I want a news link aggregator and a vibe check on where the social liberals are at culturally and so I check here for both.

Those people are spending so freely and so completely it's practically the entire economy and we are forced to compare ourselves to them.

The extra annoying part is that in a population of 350million people in the US, 10% is still about 35 million people. So there is more than enough of them to compare to and for companies to aim at.

The 90% of us are the working poor and it's not that others are stretching their money more they either just don't notice or care to look or have decided they have enough to spend freely without any consideration of whether they can afford it.
