computers are a big part of my life, i guess my priorities are just set differently.

i definetely consider it a factor in my mental health.

that'd be great, a lot of buildings are torn down just because the concrete cracks.

i'd be interested in seeing how using better concrete impacts overall costs and of course emissions. because the building ends up standing for a lot longer, the temperature isolation becomes very sub-par over time. that would increase total energy consumption compared to buildings that are frequently rebuilt.

but very promising.

the iron is a great way to increase tensile strength, but decreases lifespan, rust free metals would also be much nore expensive.

that's interesting to learn. cool of them to implement it despite there not (directly) being anything in it for them.

how would we be?

i'm gonna list a few things:

• war in europe
• genocide in gaza
• everything is a subscription
• appliances are made to fail now
• phone manufacturers blindly follow apple's horrible decisions
• housing market is going to hell
• general enshittification of every service
• cars are getting worse every day, be it the phasing out of ICEs in favour of EVs that have no hope of lasting even 20 years (that one may be fixed until 2035), the general reliability problems or the ugly designs.
• Windows is actively getting more invasive and even less private, although linux is looking very promising
• the political right is getting more drastic, and it seems to be working for them

(not literally everyone, obviously. they just have a tendency to be very passionate)

as long as you save it as a compatible .doc .docx or something, it should work. obviously word can't open a .odt file.

you can even rotate a PDF without having to pay for a subscription. i'm looking at you, adobe acrobat.

i had a similar one, godawful speed (i don't remember how much, but it was measured in single or double digit kbit/s) and turned on their computer when i went to bed, and off exactly when i came back from work.

ended up leaving the computer on the whole day for a few days. this guy owes me 5 bucks.

maybe display it for the user for half a second. but nothing else.

my3d printer does this on long prints too, it'll say 100% for up to 10 minutes when it's a really long print. makes no goddamn sense.

probably rounding shit in the software and a lack of care on the manufacturer's side.

but yeah, perfectly understandable. many people i know use the prime benefits of a single person, i was said person once.

plus i have gotten several obviously used items when it wasn't even available as used and cost full price.

i have reverted to this lifestyle, and i love it. creating the 5-6 accounts for local platforms was a slight hassle, but now i can enjoy the benefits of a "small" company which still cares about what the customer thinks.
