Okay that’s just stupid

I don’t see why the concept should be unethical.

In practice, of course it is insanely unethical as the algorithms are designed to maximize view time which leads to algorithmic radicalization and hate spreading more quickly, but the concept of an algorithm knowing and learning what you like and selecting for you itself isn’t unethical.

I hate this. I loved always having airdrop for everyone on and I'd sometimes randomly get funny pictures airdropped and would airdrop funny pictures back. Sometimes even having a random conversation with a stranger in the same place.

This was genuinely a great feature (and something you explicitly disable), so it really sucks that this is not possible anymore (as the setting doesn't exist anymore / turns off automatically after a few minutes).

Is this seriously you that happened this to or are you just sharing some random screenshots?

If this is really you, I'd genuinely ask them. Like, why they are doing this to you, where they know you from. This might give you some insight on who they are, where they know your from and their motivations (which can help you if you want to go to the police).

If you just block you without interacting, of course they want to continue trying to get responses, but if you understand it, you might get some usable information and see why they act like that.

But from a European perspective, saying minors cannot consent is definitely one of these very stupid US takes. It is honestly insane that in the US 18 is treated like a god, and if one partner is some months older, it's illegal.
Obviously, minors can generally be influenced more easily than older people, and it's important to have safeguards in place, but such a statement is just genuinely ridiculous.

The problem is that this argument can really be made both ways. If someone said Israel shouldn't exist because Palestinians used to live there before that, that's just essentially the same argument.
