  • Agreed on this. They're just so good at making new interesting things that it feels like a bit of a shame to waste time on sequels. I even really enjoyed Pyre, despite it being generally considered the weakest of their games; it was such an interesting setting and premise.

Bastion and Transistor both had very satisfying conclusions to their stories and revisiting either doesn't feel necessary.

  • Maybe it's a magnetic field or some such that reflects the attack, but it's powered by a capacitor and discharges as soon as you raise the shield. Best explanation I've got.

  • That's really what I'm most worried about with all of this. He's just the kind of person that'd be like "See? I do not!" and just enact 200% tariffs on the whole world to 'prove' it.

  • Maybe we can come to an agreement with Canada. They can send all their far right assholes to the US, we'll migrate all of our progressives and left-leaning folks.

  • Seriously, why aren't all of the 'Covid vaccines are implanting microchips' conspiracy theorists losing their goddamn minds over Neuralink?

  • Did you just have this on hand, waiting for the perfect moment to deploy it?

  • I believe this is a YouTube feature that effectively runs A/B tests on your behalf. You give it multiple titles and thumbnails and it'll gauge engagement with each and then use the one that was most popular. I hate it.

  • A hate crime is specifically crime that was motivated by hate for that group. Getting into a fight about something unrelated to that isn't a hate crime, whether or not you knew they were a member of that group ahead of time.

  • Ooh, I like this one. A unicode approximation of an already accepted symbol is nice.

  • It's baffling that they decided to take the Marathon IP and do this with it. If this had been a single player game in the vein of the originals, it would have made sense - they'd capture the attention of people who played it in the 90s and wanted more of that. Who is this supposed to appeal to? I strongly doubt there's much overlap between people who enjoyed those games in the 90s and people who want live service extraction shooters today.

  • The approval process is instance-specific; if you think that's what's keeping people away from Lemmy, just recommend they join a smaller instance that doesn't require approval.

  • The Borderlands franchise is really past its prime at this point, anyway. I've got absolutely no issue skipping this one. Might pick it up when it's on sale for $10 in a few years. The franchise really peaked with BL2; it's been down hill since.

  • You're clearly advocating for gun violence without explicitly saying it. I think in most cases the folks who advocate for this are thinking of it in terms of either someone assassinating Trump, or in the whole country rising up and taking the government by force. I'm not going to sit here and discuss why either of those options are more than just, like, hard, nor am I going to advocate for either because I don't think they'd have the effect any of us are hoping for in practice.

  • We laugh, but that mom is the kind of person that wholeheartedly supports the 'You must provide proof of age to access adult sites' laws that're poised to ruin the internet.

  • This is one of those comments that it's really easy to make from the comfort of your home on the internet, and almost impossible to put into action. I'd go so far as to say it's even more useless of a suggestion than the 'Just protest!' folks.

  • As someone in the US, I kind of hate comments like this. Not because I don't agree with you; I'd love for us to stand up to Trump, too, but the problem is, I don't know how to (effectively) do that, I don't think many others do, either, and whenever this comes up and I ask the question, 'What exactly do you want us to do?', the answer is always non-specific and weak, like "Protest!", which, I mean... cool? We have been, but it's not accomplishing much of anything. Really, I think the answer is 'We don't know, either', and everyone else is equally as frustrated as we are and, like us, don't have a better way to express it than calling for nonspecific action.

All that said, in keeping with tradition, I'll ask you: What exactly do you want us to do?

  • There's also the Machete Order. The TL;DR is to watch the movies in the order of: IV, V, II, III, VI. The reasons why are explained at that link and can't be discussed without spoilers.

  • No, EGS is plenty shitty now; what they're saying is that EGS's one singular saving grace - the free games they give away - likely won't last for the reason they outlined.

  • Not to mention, this is a gross misrepresentation of what's actually going on.

  • Not solid state media, though; now we know why the world is shifting to SSDs! It's all an AI Antichrist plot!

Though, I guess if OP's magnet is comically large enough, it could just physically damage the circuitry, and it won't matter. You're the savior we need, OP!
