I was on the beltway one night in a construction zone. They had jersey walls (concrete barriers) instead of cones and barrels to shift traffic. The SUV in front of me had not been weaving or worrying me at all when it drifted into the jersey wall in the left and just ground along it doing about 70. I expected them to jerk the wheel the other way, but they didn't. After a few seconds, they drifted back to the center of the lane. Just as I was thinking good on them for not panicking, they slammed back into the jersey wall and rode it until it ended. Their car was scraped all to hell. They had to have fallen asleep (passed out drunk). The grinding noise of car on concrete and flying sparks were too obvious to not be noticed by a conscious driver. I backed way off and fortunately was nearing my exit.

I see this shit far too often. It makes me wonder if they're aware their gps can get them rerouted without having to risk their or anyone else's necks.

This was my experience going down the GW Parkway. People frequently had the morning Post unfolded all the way reading it, and others applying eyeliner and mascara.

I find it useful when the fly won't land, I can usually swat it in midair. It's also my backup weapon when I go to spray hornets nests.

Hahaha, I would have loved to listen in on those. Arnold quotes are a favorite language a la 'Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra' in this house.

They can just keep on being upset. Their reaction kind of reinforces why I have the damn thing mostly disabled from its primary function anyway.

If it's rained in the late afternoon then stops by nighttime, the frogs in the marshland across the street seem to synchronize their songs and get very very loud.

I've heard katydids do the same thing at night after very hot days.

Bread sticks. Brush with melted butter. Dust with ranch powder.

Bacon. Dust immediately after it finishes cooking. Eat as is or do things with the bacon (burgers, sandwiches, pizza)

French fries. (Edit: call them 'franch fries'!)

Sautéed mushrooms, or green beans.

I start sea turtle patrol in a couple hours! Which is fancy for I walk a section of beach before the sun comes up looking for evidence that a mama turtle has made a nest. If I find one, I call it in, and a biologist & team will come out to survey the nest, possibly relocate it if necessary above the high tide line, and put a cage over it to protect it from coyotes and tourists. But there have only been 3 nests laid so far this season. It's kind of a slow year. So I'm not expecting to find anything. But i might, which is cool, and the sunrises here are beautiful. Exercise, beach, and sunrise is not a bad way to start the day.

This was my first thought as well, but disc drives are an option on them now, not a standard.

My MIL and to some extent my husband are like that. It was painful discussing design plans with them when we reno'd our kitchen. I just started doing mood boards so they could see what I had in my head that I wanted it to look like.

We had one neighbor leave their tree up all year in a corner window. They just changed the color of the lights and the decorations to match holiday du jour. I always looked forward to one of their resets.
