  • It'll get shuffled into some lower charge than murder. I remember a story where one cop drove past another during a traffic stop, doing something in the order of 100+ mph, hit the other one, dragged him a distance, and yup, the dude who got hit and dragged died. He wasn't charged with murder, but a lower manslaughter. The shit-for-brains actually pled not guilty, rejecting a plea bargain.

The reason he drove so fast by the other? It was a prank that supposedly was sometimes done.

  • Many states in the US explicitly say you can resist an officer using force when they shouldn't. Many juries, DAs, and other cops in said states won't give a shit.

As for the going against the constitution, the word murder in the executive order basically removes any contradiction, because murder is a legal term in the various penal codes and wouldn't fit someone who had shot a cop lawfully.

  • So in other words, to clarify for the people at home, you should remember that old saying about "better to be judged by 12 than carried by six," and remember we now have a new corollary: If you can't trust them being judged by 12, ensure they're carried by six. I'm honestly half-surprised that we haven't heard of the attacker of Pelosi's husband being pardoned. Imagine a world where your attacker gets pardoned for his attack on you, and know that it may be coming sooner than you think.

  • The point of laws is to enforce them.* Remember the old PSAs about forest fires? Go out and be the change you want to see in the world.

-against people the system doesn't like

  • It's the face of effort. Dude probably doesn't get off of the computer chair very much, and lifting his arms above the 'loose hang, elbows bent, wrists resting on desk' takes a lot of effort, and thus the grimace from struggling.

  • Average healthy adult breathes 12-20 times a minute (those are the numbers we carry around with us in healthcare). So at the upper end, 20b/minx60min/hrx24hr/day gives you $1,440.00 a day. If we count even the impact of your foot while running as steps (does a specific word for that exist? I don't know. In my head a step comes from walking...), a good pace is 3 steps / second. Go for a good 30 minute run, and you get 3st/sec * 60sec/min * 30min for a whopping total of 5400 steps, or $1,350.00. Move around your house while cooking, cleaning, getting the kids/pets/lover where they need to be, and you might end up a bit better off than the breathing. My average steps just around the house add up to 5k-6k, I believe.

The IRS can lick my balls if I'm being paid in cash under the table though.

  • Oh, lol, sorry. I thought you meant how the 'knot' and 'weed' fit into current internet culture. A lot of plants have names that probably don't make much sense to us. Apparently in its native Japan, there are 689 terms for it! Damn. I noticed that another english name for it is Donkey Rhubarb, which immediately makes me think of other things, and I'm now realizing I spend way too much time on the internet. /facepalm

  • Because they take one sentence from the vet's verbatim of the vestige of the information from the textbook/experience and only focus on that. Imagine the vet says about five paragraphs worth of information about the effects of obesity on cats, and has one line about "his blood panel doesn't show anything outside of the normal range right now." The owners focus on just what confirms their view.

  • I think Ian M. Banks ('The Culture' series) already had that, unless that's specifically what you were referencing. Though humanity wasn't a part of The Culture, as explicitly explained when they were viewing us like apes in a zoo, so the ringworlds with primitive cultures on them that had AI machine minds tending them weren't from the wake of humanity.

  • On the internet, everything vaguely dog-like has a big, thick penis with an even bigger, thicker bulb at the bottom of it. I've heard it's perfect for prissy subs everywhere as you love-fuck them into a drooling mess only to 'tie' them at the end as you howl your alpha-dominant status to the echoing world of your 10ftx10ft, $1500/mo roomapartment.

  • The amount of scathing that a canopy company gets when a skydiver hits hard is particularly dependent on their quality. Most of us who skydive read the death/injury reports regularly, and when the equipment was at fault it (the report) gets nasty. Here's a link if anyone is curious to read through some of them. The majority are going to be the fault of the loon jumping out of a plane, but every now and then you'll see an equipment failure. Most of those, even, are due to poor maintenance and upkeep, not manufacturer sleaziness.

  • It's happened more often than you'd think. Usually there is something that makes it happen, like falling through tree branches or into something like a snow bank, but it happens enough that it pops up in trivia from time to time.

  • There's enoch, who was taken up to heaven by a chariot while on a stroll, I think. He supposedly 'walked with god' and was thus holy enough to not die or something. so there's your oxen (the chariot) and went into the sky and never seen again.
