It's worth noting that the whole reason MTG wants to oust him (IN HER OWN WORDS) is because he's reaching across the aisle to pass a bill that includes things that support Ukraine.
Johnson is one of them in all aspects and they still want to oust him.
Read this one correctly folks -- Going against Russian interests is the real problem here.
Some of these GOP folks are bought and paid for by Russia.
It does not matter how hard you toe the party line, if you go against Russian interests, the far reachers of the party will try to get you removed from power and replaced with someone who can be bought.
This is what takes them so long to find someone to fill the seat.
For most people, these are harmless and just a part of getting older. You’ll get used to them.
I've had these since I was in preschool.
They're far less pronounced (almost entirely absent, really) now in my 40's than they were throughout my single digit years, but I still see them once in a great while
That would be the SMART way to do things, yes.
One can hope.
You're not being loud. I'm completely in the dark. Likely so are others. I even looked at your mastodon in the hopes I could figure it out. Know that people care and hope the best for you. Rest up, do whatever you need to in order to feel better, and know that your return will be a welcome one.
I was actually impressed when I took a bus across state lines in the U.S. recently.
Someone was complaining about the charger on their seat not working.
Turns out that the driver has full control of the power to the USB ports on the bus and can turn them off and on at will... and they apparently they turn them off BY DEFAULT.
If someone WERE to figure out a way to get from the USB port in the seats to the CAN Bus on the vehicle itself, having a hard-wired physical switch that cuts power/signal to the ports is potentially a fairly effective security measure as long as there's not a memory buffer you can compromise and run stuff from.
The way I heard it, it wasn't so much that the site itself was one wing or the other, it's just the site that people were getting recruited FROM to eventually BECOME right wing... operatives?
I'm not completely certain which domestic or foreign group is responsible for hiring all of them, but it's clearly deliberate positioning of less-than-successful actors/models into noisemaking/visibility roles.
They must be paying well because at least one of those people used to ostensibly be a liberal.
Outside of eliminating all PAC-type "contribution" organizations, all shell company sorts of situations AND forcing all pundits to disclose their financing like a publicly traded corporation has to, we're not going to stop bad money from funding horrible behaviour.
It sure would be interesting to get a few of the worst of these folks hauled into court for the handful of harmful statements they're making that constitute actual crimes and get their funding exposed, though.
What? Where? What's it called?
So… Her last good movie was Silence of the Lambs, right? Oh, that was her first one, too.
If you haven't seen "Contact", I highly recommend it.
Looking at IMDB I've seen a grand total of six movies she's in and while the ones I saw were all enjoyable at the time, some even worth re-watching, Contact definitely stands out for me.
After looking through a bunch of synopses of Asimov's stuff, I wonder if it might be this one:

President Joe Biden pardoned thousands of people who were convicted of use and simple possession of marijuana on federal lands and in the District of Columbia
So that pardons people who were convicted of using or possessing while located in one of the red areas here?
Aside from D.C. itself, that's what, Land under the control of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Defense, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, Tennessee Valley Authority, and a few others?
I guess, in the words of Angie Martinelli "That's not nothin!".
Hopefully this reaches the right ears and starts more change:
Biden on Friday reiterated his call on governors and local leaders to take similar steps to erase marijuana convictions.
The number of people we have in prison for this is bonkers and the fact that it makes life as a productive member of society much more difficult is absolutely ridiculous.
Okay, so this topic is moderately amusing to me. The truth is we still don't actually know for sure, but it's WEIRD.
He had a long and apparently well-documented history (letters he wrote) of multiple relationships with adult women. So much so that his family attempted to cover it all up because, by victorian standards, it was absolutely fucking scandalous. Like, wreck the surname for generations scandalous (which admittedly didn't take much by victorian standards). This makes it look like he had NO relationships with adult women, because being an oddball that way was LESS of a freakshow publicly than sleeping around was.
The victorians also had this weird thing (by today's standards) about nude children being the very symbol of innocence. Like, so much so that you'd wonder if they thought the mere sight of naked babies restored an adult's innocence or something.
And these people had WEIRD hangups about sex.
We're talking they supposedly covered the legs of tables and chairs in cloth so they would less resemble actual people's legs, lest someone accidentally think of what's at the TOP of legs on people. (genitalia! scary!)
The schism with Alice's family may just have been that SOME people were POSSIBLY gossiping behind closed doors about the man and they refused to be associated with even the POSSIBILITY of scandal, especially if that scandal was that he slept with multiple women. There's also mention that he was interested in Alice's older sister, and something about a maid.
The whole thing is just straight up odd, but apparently most of the pedo rumors didn't start until after his death. I'm not sure what, if anything, that means.
So, who knows. an oddball dude in a SUUUPER sexually repressed society, it honestly could go either way on coin flip odds.
palling around with Alex Jones on Infowars, dropping alt-right buzzwords in interviews
That saddens and actually kinda shocks me.
I would have expressed ZERO surprise to news of him going so far to the LEFT that he ended up miles beyond hippie dippie new agey and founded his own Heaven's Gate cult (The central belief of the which was that followers could transform themselves into immortal extraterrestrial beings by rejecting their human nature, and they would ascend to heaven)...but this is...honestly weirding me out.
Wasn't he going so far into eastern spirituality that he was recording himself reading the entirety of the Bhagavad Gita at one point or something?
Few seem to care…including those who will one day be there themselves.
What are those of us who care supposed to be doing?
Amidst deciding which bills get paid each paycheck, trying to find nutritional variety out of food banks (canned fish intake should ideally be less than 10 cans a month per person, for example, and even rinsing canned vegetables/beans isn't doing wonders for sodium intake compared to fresh), trying to decide which medical and dental issues we can afford to address and which just get to be endured, and watching debt go to collections because food, insurance, automobile fuel, home energy, rent, and everything related to cars has gone up, what are we supposed to be doing?
In what way can we unite as a people and fix this?
You have to admit, there's a ridiculous amount of stuff that lines up here.
Showing this to fundamentalist MAGA's might be an interesting exercise.
I mean, a whole bunch of that could be true about a LOT of people who go out and profess they WANT TO BE CROWNED DICTATOR but it's still amusing.
shrug
I'm okay with unobtrusive ads as long as the place serving them up has a modicum of common sense sensibilities about their impact and has a rigorous enough vetting process that they'll never be used as payloads for malicious software. Ads can be a way to find out about products I might otherwise never know about. I'm not outright against all ads as a concept. Hell, sometimes it's an actual art form in rare cases.
I'm just against them taking up more space than the content itself, impeding my access to the content in any way, hijacking my property, or getting hijacked by malware which then hijacks my property.
Where does one get something like this in the U.S.?
no min balance, no fees, interest on checking?
I was under the impression that didn't exist.
It is true that the pay segments aren’t required in any way shape or form, unlike some other similar games.
Yeah, once the yearly event started including the option of either two T6 C-store ships (which will unlock those normally RL-Money-Only ship traits that are so much fun) OR a single T6 Lockbox ship (as long as it's been out for a year) making those high-end ridiculous min-maxed builds (that aren't even necessary to play the game's hardest content) became a very real possibility without spending a dime.
Add in every event giving bunches of bonus dilithium after you complete it and the fact that they got rid of the bots and you can even trade dilithium for zen in a reasonable amount of time. People were buying the 10th anniversary bundle left and right without spending any money last christmas when it went on sale.
It takes more planning in advance than just using Attack Pattern: Credit Card, but it's totally doable.
They removed not only the ability to make new user made maps and scenarios but removed all content related to the function saying it would essentially require requiring the game from scratch because no one was left that knew how it worked.
Yeah, that part sucks. I miss it.
Many of the missions have been removed over the years, saying they no longer are good enough quality compared to new content, etc.
I can't think of a single mission that was removed that I miss. There's probably one or two, but the few removals there were have been largely beneficial. And the new missions are amazing by comparison.
Everything is a shadow of what it was.
I disagree. I started playing when STO went free to play back around when romulans became playable.
It's only been in the last 2 years that I started really enjoying the game instead of forcing myself to try because I really wanted star trek SO BAD in an MMO.
The QoL improvements are good, the events are still fun and the rewards are actually worthwhile.
There are handfuls of people in the fleets I'm in that are playing completely f2p thanks to reward ships and event/reputation gear and holding their own, doing good damage in group content, so there ARE plenty of microtransaction options, but they're not required -- just super beneficial if you have the cash.
Couple of years from now when its been milked dry by the zen currency bots.
They just banned almost all of those a few months back.
Like, massive sweeping bans and the zen exchange has been mostly normal since.
Neat!
Is there something like this for Android?
