  • unfortunately, there is no need for endusers to see an advantage.

there will be an immediate disadvantage to not having it once content wont load without it.

i fear that the pressure of youtube utilizing it, would be enough to convince most users to use it.

also, most users probably wont even know they use it,
chrome alone has a 65% 85% market share.

its the platform providers wholl have to weight excluding at most 35% 15% of their users against the benefits of drm.

and with potential support from any chromium derivatives, that number gets lower.

not to mention, that some of these 35% 15% may switch browsers in order to access the content.

EDIT: safari also uses it, so its about 85% not 65%

  • holy shit,
and its literally just some lead mineral (lead Apatite)

Not only would it be a gigantic breakthrough,
it sounds almost affordable compared to rare earths (afaik Apatite can be lab grown)

i sure hope it turns out true after peer review

  • isnt china already working on building one,
or am i mixing something up

  • holy crap,
that's exactly what i wanted the last command to do.

i just didn't know you can target jobs,
and settled with quitting the shell instead

  • its supposed to be lowercase,
but imgflip put the entire text in uppercase.

  • :!killall -9 vim

    easy as that

  • cat (as in concatenate)
    prints a file to stdout

head & tail print the beginning / end of a file

  • i settled on fedora kde a few years ago(altho i recently switched to fedora silverblue kde)
    imo a nice middleground.

if you are intrested in immutable distros, i can recommend silverblue (not as drastic of a change compared to nixos)

if you are intrested in nixos package management, you might want to try out the nix package manager on your current distro.

an intresting way to get the fresh but stable system you want is to,
install some rock solid distro like debian,
and then use the nix package manager and/or flatpacks to get the fresh software you want.

  • 😂 utf-8 is great isn't it.

Its meant to be a text format capable of displaying all writing systems.
    from mandarin to sumerian cuneiform,
or obscure stuff like alchemy notations.

its also what allows you to post emojis on every modern website.

  • and whenever issues arise:
    X is not working,
what are we even paying you for?

  • of course the true and only "hannah montana linux"

  • i avoided flatpacks before.
but now that i tried out silverblue and had to rely heavily on them,
i have to admit that flatpacks are not nearly as bad as i thought.

the only issues i encountered are with steam (might not start propperly on first launch)
and with ides(terminal starts inside the sandbox)

other than that it works great.

  • afaik that should work,

running the software in wine/lutris could be an simpler solution

  • they are doing that already with secureboot.

altho i fortunatley haven't encountered machines yet where you can't disable it.
