  • ive had supprisingly little issues with flatpaks.

i have been running silverblue for about half a year now, and rely heavily on them.

i can remember 3 distinct issues:

vs code commandlines start in the sandbox, which needs a workarround (rather understandable)

either the fedora, or the flathub build of firefox didnt come with some video codec, OpenH264 i think. switching to the other build fixed it (imo more a licensing issue with the codec than a flatpak problem)

on rare occasions (about once every 3 month)
steam behaves weirdly, and refuses to start until i update the flatpak.

other than that, it has been a smoth ride.

  • or just get a laserpointer

  • "no boots",
so tactical Crocs are A-OK i take it?

  • thanks, that's a lot simpler and more affodable than i expected.

why is that FGC stick thing needed for the events?

it just looks like usb on both sides.
is that board actually incompatible with ps5,
is it because the usb hub,
or is it because some tournament rule (like socd cleaning or something)

  • neat, i thought about eventually building my owm hitbox or mixbox style controler.

what kind of controller circuit board
do you use for these custom controlers?

and how did you set up the multiple usb ports, it kinda looks lik the brace of a pci card?

  • eat it all at once in a single bite

  • ive been using the steam flatpack on silverblue for a while now.

there are a few cases where steam wont start (less then once every 2 months i think)
that usually are resolved by updating the flatpack.

otherwise i have not noticed any other issues.

  • Toxic

    Jump
  • i think the issue is fundamental to the "meta forum" concept both lemmy and reddit share.

when comunitys are small, they mostly consist of people that are intrested, and usually knowledgeable enough to participate in discussion.

but as size and thus discoverability of a community increases, posts start trending more and more.

so less informed, and more reactionairy users (if not straight up trolls) that browse r/all start flooding the posts and dilute propper discourse with bad uninformed takes.

ti;dr essentially, reddit style plattforms turn into twitter for big communities.

  • thats imo the worst way to start factorio.

a friend of mine tried to introduce me to the game,
but i lost intrest after blue science.

did you try it out by yourself yet?
    it only clicked for me,
once i learned the game at my own pace.

  • ds2 is imo the easiest in the series,
and the only one ive managed to complete so far.

here's a bunch of tipps for if you want to try again.

once you beat the last gigant,
talk to melentia untill she moves to majula,
    shell sell infinite lifegems.

    lifegems are better than estus,
since you can still move, and you can carry 99.

level adp untill you have 99 dex agility,
    for iframes on the rolls.

    broadsword, longsword, rapier, and mace
are great weapon you can find early on.

ds2 (especially sotfs) relys heavily on ganksquads, and enemys as an obstacle to defend the way to the boss.
you have to lure them out and fight them on your terms, its hard to run past enemys.

you can jump on the balcony on the smelter demon boss run, and skip a lot of pain.

shrine of amana, get a crossbow/bow, and snipe the mages, anything else is pure torment.

bonfire ascetics (and the expanded ng+) are the best features of ds2.
ng+ the bonfire melentia was at,
last gigant and pursuer ng+ are juicy souls if you can beat them, and you can find mats to complete a +7 or even +8 weapon very early.

  • reminds me off all the nano technology and quantum quackery

  • i kinda doubt you are talking about the same people here(mostly)

at least id say im a "tech bro" not a hipster.

i never gave a shit about "all natural" stuff, i dont care about msg, preservatives or Transglutaminase (a.k.a. Meat Glue)

heck, i even thought that "pink sludge" is kinda based, when i first learned of it.

  • im staying optimistic, as long as it will be cheaper, the fastfood industry will massivly lobby in favor of it, and imo. mostly balance that out.

it will probably just have an awfull reputation, like mcnuggets "pink sludge"

  • in theory youre right.

but meat industry lobbyists woud surely try to take advantage of the outrage.

i vaguely remember a post on reddit on this topic.

    something like "artesinal celebrety meat"

which of course turned out to be an "artistic project" or something trying to
"highlight the moral issues" with lab meat,
    or some other horseshit.

EDIT: here's the post i was talking about

  • oof, i still remember the one where a guy pulled out balcony railing posts with seemingly no effort.

it was high up too, at least 20th floor.

  • yeah, from time to time.

i dont have any laptop chargers at home,
but at work everyone has usb c dockingstations.

if i forgot to charge my earbuds, or if my smartphone is empty, i charge it at one of the unoccupied ones.

  • then we should set out a bunch of coyotes,
to keep the feral cat population in check.

    what could possibly go wrong?
