  • What steps can be taken to mitigate this?

Be an employer of choice. What can you do to make people want to work with you, not out of necessity but because you are better than the alternatives. (Pro tip: if you're paying the lowest rate you're allowed to without braking the law you better be offering some other incentive)

  • This is something I've taken for granted as per app volume control is integrated into the OS on Motorola phones and I've been using mid range Motorolas since the Moto G 4 in 2016 (they offer a reasonable price, reasonable performance, microSD card and headphone jack).

Then I was setting up a Samsung tablet last weekend and was horrified to see I had to use the Samsung store to download Sound Assistant for something I had just assumed was a standard OS feature for close to a decade.

  • I guess it depends on how general you want it to be. A general ai that could learn SMB, breakout, bubble bobble or Warioware would different from something more specialized that is tailored for only platformers like SMB, sonic, etc.

  • I don't know about this title but standards can change.

    The Australian OFLC rated:

    • Fable (2004}: M for "Medium level animated violence"
    • Fable: The Lost Chapters (2005): MA15+ for "Strong violence, Sexual references"
    • Fable Anniversary (2013): R18+ for "Sexual activity related to incentives and rewards"

These are essentially the same game but every time it was reviewed they bumped it up a rating.

  • WBD reported in August 2024 that it had lost $10 billion in the second quarter of 2024, relating to continued losses from its direct-to-consumer segment and the devaluation of its linear TV assets.

As these are based of the films as much as the books I think they probably have a favorable licensing deal compared with the other licensed Traveller's Tales Lego games.

The other franchise that might compete is Lego Batman but for that the one the series was released between 2008 and 2018 (i.e. spanning PS2, PS3, and PS4) and it would take a full rebuild of the earlier titles to bring them up to a consistent standard. Probably more effort than they want to spend on a cheap cash grab.

  • As a dev I would refer to the people running my software as users all the time, a user runs software under a user profile with their limited user privileges, we might write the user data to the user home directory, identity them on the backend by some user id but probably want to use the user display name on the UI.

Its not derogatory but when your implementing the software the user holds a distinct role and is perfectly valid terminology for the person using the software.

  • I tried this when its was included with basic PS+ on launch weekend and I found the aesthetic actively unpleasant and then having persevered through the tutorials was disappointed by empty lobbies.

They couldn't get a viable player count when it was given to 40 million PS+ subscribers, I doubt giving it to the rest of PSN users will make much difference.

  • You don't "buy" music. You buy a license to listen to that music for as long as the license issuer still owns that particular song.

Unless dealing with the artist or studio directly the license issuer also won't "own" the song but rather have a license to sell and distribute the title.
