  • Israel has bombed every hospital in Gaza, it's no surprise that it's becoming increasingly impossible to count the dead. Direct deaths refer to those killed by ammunition and bombs, indirect deaths are still entirely due to the genocide. Israel's targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is deliberate and systemic.

  • There are plenty of policies that have majority support, even from Republican voters as well, that the Party has not implemented. On a weapons embargo, you're right that the switch happened relatively fast, due to the obvious reasons, but that doesn't excuse the Party from ignoring the issue. Especially during a critical election, when they are, at least in theory, supposed to be going after the most amount of votes they can. Representatives, both Senate and House, regularly hear from their constituents. They see the polls. It's their own decision to go against their constituents.

I'm all in favor of an improved democratic system that better represents the people, both locally and nationally. There are many many aspects of our 'democratic Republic' that is antidemocratic. But my main point is that the Parties have no genuine interest in what the people want. They are entirely beholden to the interests of corporate donors. And in that, I think we're in agreement.

The Democratic Party is no genuine opposition to the fascist threat of the Republican Party, precisely because of how much they gravitate towards the interests of corporate donors at the expense of the people.

  • I'd call them medical luddites but even back then they had primitive vaccinations against smallpox, plus the luddites did at least have genuine concerns (jobs). Being anti-medicine is mind-boggling. Even if it stems from anti-pharma, of which the profit motive is genuinely concerning, this anti-medicine mentality does nothing to address it and only harms themselves and others.

  • How incredibly inhumane. Immigrants built this country. If anyone here isn't the descendant of an immigrant; they are an either an descendant of a native American to survived the genocide, or of a chattel slave who survived the anti-black violence that's been prevalent in this country for over a hundred years.

If the ideal version of America is supposed to be freedom and democracy where anyone looking to make a better life for themselves is welcome, then anti-immigrant sentiment is anti-american.

  • You are not, I don't consider social media posts to be activism. I consider donations, organizing, and protests to be, which I do.

Your bad-faith misinformation is falsely conflating the Democratic Party as an institution with the few progressive Democrats within, The Squad, that are the ones fighting for the working class. I've repeatedly given credit to progressives like AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib because they have genuine interest in fighting for human rights even if that goes against the party's position. The Democratic Party is failing to be a genuine opposition and fights back against the progressives within are are trying to change the party into a genuine opposition to Fascism.

  • Harris' rhetoric of a two-state solution and ceasefire were no different than than Biden's rhetoric, both were not genuine. Both are on record for opposing the weapons embargo, which was THE way to force Israel is agree to the ceasefire. It was always empty rhetoric, meanwhile the administration continued to fund the genocide with billions of our tax payer dollars.

The rhetoric coming out of the White House, when it has been focused on peace or restraint, rather than continuous war, has been undercut at every turn by its actions. The constant supply of weapons — $17.9 billion of bullets, bombs, shells, and other military aid in the past year — has allowed Israel to keep waging its war on Gaza, and in recent weeks, expand that war to Lebanon and threaten to escalate its conflict with Iran. Despite documentation of U.S. weapons being used in probable war crimes, and credible allegations that Israel is committing genocide in its war on Gaza, the bombs have continued to flow.

Kamala Would Have Won With A Weapons Embargo

  • I agree, main reason I made the quote that long. That doesn't justify the invasion, especially since it only justified Europe's need for a defensive pact, one the US is quick to exploit which the quote mentions. A people fighting for sovereignty will get weapons to fight back by any means possible, which the US is exploiting for its own ends.
