  • Ohh, it's a game, not season 2 of invincible

  • RSS doesn't have trending or any sort of curation though, the news sources usually have 10 garbage click bait articles for any one that you might be interested in. I haven't found a way to make it work as a reliable way for trending news, yet at least.

  • That's pretty much what I said, and I'm not saying its the wrong choice for them - it just means that Mastodon can never be the replacement for twitter, yet people keep bringing it up as an alternative. I personally want news that I care about and on mastodon it all gets buried in a chronological feed filled with irrelevant stuff I don't care about. I'd probably like it if it only consisted of close friends that I care about, so its like a tightly knit social network, but not when its randoms across the world with some very hot or annoying takes.

And I'd love an alternative but bluesky is gonna have the same issue as twitter, its owned by the same type of people and actually funded by twitter the company from what i read. It's just trading one devil for another.

  • Mastodon will never be a twitter replacement simply because of lack of algorithm and proper content discovery, but seemingly the devs and admins there are fine with it and prefer it that way. It is definitely not filling my need for curated news and discovery of new interests that twitter used to provide before it went to shit, seems like bluesky might take over that function since most big content creators are shilling their bs pages nowadays.

  • I heard that inventory management and transferring items between party members is a chore, which is a shame since it's something that PF games have already solved - shared inventory space for all party members. It makes it so much more convenient and fun to use than the mess DOS games had.

  • There are abilities you can use now?

  • It's a fun cheap game when you have 20 minutes to kill with no added bs in forms of ads, microtransactions or fomo ¯(ツ)

  • If you could remember the name I'd like to give it a try but I am veeerryyy skeptical its any good since the environment, gear progression, player abilities and enemy movesets haven't been designed to fit the dark souls style combat. Just having some form of stagger would be a nice improvement though.

  • I thought you're the ship, so no disembarking or moving around of foot? Maybe it has more single player content to compete with SoT at least, but I'm way past giving ubisoft the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making fun sp games.

  • I have dabbled in modding actually but only enough to know that I don't have the time or patience to make the big mods that I'd like to see, or that people with thousands of more hours of experience modding these games haven't managed to complete.

For example, no matter how much modding effort you put into combat, it's still only ever going to be classic floaty bethesda combat. No matter how much you try to improve magic, it's never going to become Dragons Dogma or Kingdoms of Amalur, ya know. No matter how many settlement overhaul or custom NPCs I add to fallout, it's still going to feel soulless and pointless to me, and no matter how many tents or frostbite effects you add to skyrim, it won't become as immersive as Outward.

Mods can improve what is already there but in my experience, they can never replace or rework core foundations of games, either because the modders don't have enough time and experience to do it (resulting in janky or unbalanced messes), or because the engine/API doesn't support it.

  • Actually from what I remember from a reddit thread a while back, someone did the math and rowing against wind seems to be faster on average in valheim in any case except if you're in the storm or sth like that. It feels slower cuz its a boring slow line but it ends up being faster

  • And it still going to sell like crazy because there is no other "average" bethesda-like game on the market, especially not spaceship/SF-flavored. I wish there was cuz I know I'll be annoyed by usual bethesda issues and I don't have faith in the modding scene to fix it properly (since they never did it for me for FO4 or skyrim), but its still going to be without competition so ¯(ツ)

  • There's also a question if each episode is 20 or 40 minutes. Either way, I can easily see them having a few episodes just for high school flashbacks or something, which doesn't leave a lot to cover the 90 minutes of the movie that could easily be expanded more to go more into the characters of each ex.

  • I really hope this is good but I've been burned way too many times with netflix remakes / adaptations in recent memory :P

Having the entirety of the movie cast behind me also makes me wonder just how expensive was it to make, what are the chances of it actually getting picked up for later seasons? Some googling tells me it's only an 8-episode season so far which doesn't seem like that much to cover the original comic properly.

  • Omg seeing the little dudes in the corner on a LED screen gave me nostalgia flashbacks, I don't remember what specifically it was but I played so many games using that tech back when I was a kid

  • It's really just a good fun game. I could stand to get some QoL in it eventually (loadouts), and I really dont feel good about RNG relic modifiers, but everything else is just stellar compared to first one that i already loved.

  • I kinda agree with most of hese points tbh, I still have an account on Mastodon but due to issues outlined in the article it is still very empty and soulless to me, even compared to twitter that after all the bullshit it's been going through still has actual interesting content and people there (and the algorithm that actually shows me their content I'm interested in instead of an chronological timeline with 90% worthless comments).

  • It looks so good, I loved the first one even tho I played mostly solo and 2nd one seems like an improvement in almost every way, I wanted to wait a few months before getting it but that's getting pretty challenging with all the good reviews it's been getting

  • Pretty sure you don’t own ANY games anymore, unless you fully pirate them

Or if you buy them on GOG

  • I think the gem skill system is one of the biggest things they are changing for PoE2 IIRC. its not linked to gear anymore or sth like that
