  • Wtf this is not correct at all. Pharmacists are part of your healthcare team and are absolutely just as bound by HIPAA as your doctor. If a cop asks for records we direct them to corporate so that lawyers can figure that out. Same if a lawyer subpoenas for records.

Though you are correct if another pharmacist or a physician called to ask what a patient was taking we would not be bound by HIPAA because that request should be required info to treat the patient. Eg, you are in the hospital and they have to call the pharmacy to see what you are taking because you either aren't sure or are unconscious.

  • Eh, it was predicted we would die because the population growth was exceeding our ability to farm food, but then out of necessity the industrial revolution happened.

I think we are predicting we will die but out of necessity we will make the necessary changes to save ourselves just in time. Not just stopping emissions (this will only help slow the worsening, since we might be past the point of no return by the time we do this), but also carbon capture to remove the CO2, while simultaneously seeding extra clouds with something like the salt water canons running on cargo ships, and other such tech to reflect the sun while we get to work on CO2 capture.

The CO2 will have to be sequestered back in the ground, so a method will have to be made to liquify and pump it back in, but it's theoretically possible.

  • I think the main market was supposed to be like a utility vehicle. It's got some nice specs for actual work purposes for an electric vehicle, while saving money by not making a pretty body.

I don't know why some people like the look and want it for recreational use.

  • You pretty much nailed it. The teachings of Jesus are pretty great. Most important law there is? Love God and your Neighbor (okay I combined them but that's what Jesus meant anyways). Jesus lived that way. You'd find him hanging out with the rejects of society, the ill, the prostitutes, etc. He wanted to raise the floor of society. He also was for separation of church and state. "Hey Jesus, you've got this new kingdom thing going on, do we have to pay taxes to the king anymore?" "Yes, give your king what's his, and give to God what's his."

But somehow these days it's all about how you can word the Bible to help further your hatred. "Hey this one passage says if a man lays with a guy (boy? We aren't 100% on that translation), he should be stoned, so that means we should hate the gays!". Nope. Go back and read what Jesus was all about. Love your neighbor. Most important thing!

I can't really proudly call myself Christian, because I don't really fit the current model of that. I barely attend church, I don't hate any group. In fact I find all lifestyles fascinating and valuable. I accept all religions too. Your Buddhist? Cool. Tell me about it. Muslim? Awesome. You guys have some cool thoughts on giving to the poor (2% of your assets! Imagine if billionaires did that!). If Christianity is the correct religion, and Jesus is the only way into heaven, why can't he talk to these people after death and decide then? I find it hard to say the Jesus recorded in the Bible would be like "you were good to everyone and a light in this world, but... You were Jewish so off to hell with you for all eternity!"

It's nice to live this way accepting everyone. I think the only reason I accept that I am still Christian is because I think this is how Christians should be anyways. It's not about hate, despite what the current thinking is. I guess historically it's always been used that way though.

  • Nope. In a bizarre twist, pharmacies PAY for the privilege of using a discount card to make your med cheaper. GoodRx charges the most that I am aware of, but these payments can be like $1-$7 paid to the coupon provider. The reason is, GoodRx advertised the lowest price they would accept to you, so they paid GoodRx for the advertisement that brought you in. While you are in they hope to make a profit in other ways, and may also be making a small profit still, despite the apparent 90% markdown.

The reason they cannot discount without the card is because they must have a "usual and customary" charge to start the negotiations with when they determine how much the insurance companies will pay. If they just discounted willy nilly, that would make the charge they started with wrong, which could be considered fraudulently representing their pricing.

Healthcare in America guys. It makes sense. Trust me, no better way could possibly be constructed.

  • Lemmy as a whole appears to irrationally hate Tesla because of their stupid CEO. I think his penchant for calling what is essentially "advanced autopilot" FULL SELF DRIVING should be illegal. But he's a car salesman and for some reason the government is letting him call it that. Be mad at our lawmakers for that. He's just a sheister and our lawmakers suck at reining him in. Tesla cars themselves are actually really good. Very safe cars that don't roll over because of the heavy battery located so low, very responsive acceleration, and some nice quality of life low hanging fruit in the technology department, like my phone being a key. I was told by my Tesla rep when I bought the car to not buy FSD. It's experimental and will not ever probably be driving you to your destination safely. The fact that they sell it with a name that implies it will is the problem. And people believe it. That's incredibly dangerous.

  • Wasn't this the nomadic people who did this with their goats or something? And before that's lactose tolerance wasn't that common. So most of them probably had stomach aches a lot until it became common over generations

  • One of the theories on alcohol is mead (honey wine) was the first alcohol. Supposedly hunters would throw a bit of honey into their water skins and go hunting. When they came back, they might not have finished it and when used again, it was alcoholic. Eventually they noticed the effect and enjoyed it.

I'm sure after that much experimentation was had on different carbohydrates.

Beer seems hard though. You have to boil it just right to make it right, before you even start fermentation.

  • At my job years ago they had a required training that was watching a video that was essentially anti union propaganda.

They had two managers discussing the need for a new supervisor position opening up, and discussing two qualified candidates. Then a third guy (poorly dressed and obnoxious personality) comes in and says they have to promote this other guy, due to union rules. The managers exclaim that guy barely ever comes to work and when he does has very poor performance, but Obnoxious Union Guy insists their hands are tied and they must promote him.

    End Scene.

Now, good employee forced to watch this video, can't you see how unions are bad?? And YOU have to pay a fee to essentially destroy the company so we go under and you have to get a new job! Be a good little employee and keep working hard and forget the word Union exists.
