  • I wonder why your dreams are not vividly colored?

I used to try for lucid dreaming. Had some successful attempts. One thing that always woke me up from them was doing something too far outside my physical experiences. I could never fly like superman. But I could kind of float like I was in water sometimes. I tried to breathe underwater during these dreams a few times. It always woke me up. Until I got scuba certified. Now that I had had experience breathing underwater in real life, all the sudden that was fair game for the lucid dreams.

So my guess is your perception and processing of the world is somehow dull. I wonder if like those glasses that help some color blind people experience color would help shift that, or maybe time in a hyper saturated VR experience.

  • To give some context, if I remember correctly, Tuvix wasn't just "clearly against the split". He was desperately trying to save his own life, crying out "doesn't anyone see that this is wrong??", before they essentially killed him.

  • It's not just important for those that cannot be vaccinated for health reasons. It's important for the x% that the vaccine was not effective for.

If it's 90% effective, then you still have a 10% chance of getting it if exposed (Though probably less severe, you can still spread it). But if it's 90% effective, you have a much lower chance of being exposed but ONLY IF MOST PEOPLE GET THE VACCINE!

Sorry, not yelling at you. Just making the point that even if you get the vaccine, you are better off if everyone else does too.

  • I visit Reddit via googling "[thing I want an answer to] Reddit". The whole Internet has become a frustrating quagmire and reddit seemed on the level for awhile. So the older posts answering my question are still useful.

Until I find something I want to comment on to help or correct something and I realize the post is several years old haha

  • I don't think they are afraid of losing anything specific. It's ingrained at this point.

"If you made straight A's and someone else made straight F's, how would you feel if you both ended up with C's? That's fair right? No? Welcome to the Republican Party. Isn't everyone who doesn't agree with this an idiot? I'm glad we aren't idiots."

I grew up homeschooled and the Christian curriculum my parents used had similar feeling brainwashing tactics. "Scientists searched their whole lives to disprove the Bible, then ended up Christians instead!" Making you feel smart for not wasting your life like the other guy, you are already in the "good" group.

  • Wife and I are really liking it. We don't have a lot of time to play these days though since we have a 5 month old. Besides the audio issues it's been a great experience so far! Seems like this game has enough to keep us entertained for a long time.

  • You're good on the age. Everyone is different. My wife was more mature than me at that age and was also around six years younger than me. Best decision ever for me to ask her out and eventually marry her. Been together 15 years now and just had our first child and couldn't be happier.

  • I like all the comments about burnout and addressing that. When I was in a similar mindset, I would dream of hiking the pct. 6 months on a trail where all I had to worry about was walking. Or I could take a 0 day and enjoy camp. Slow paced life. I even bought books and learned the equipment I would need. Spent vacations testing that equipment and adjusting to what I actually needed. I remember coming back from five nights out staying in a camping hammock and being amazed at the "palace" I live in comparatively.

I could go at any time I felt work was absolutely too much. I almost did. For some reason, having all that knowledge and feeling like I could go was enough of a mental break for me to carry on.

At least consider doing one of the long trails. It might address your burnout and give you the feeling of closeness to nature you are looking for. Maybe you will want to do a homestead after that. Maybe that hike will be enough. Worth a consideration anyways.

  • Hi I'm not vegan but I'm always looking for healthy recipes! Do you have any favorite websites to find inspiration? I recently figured out I could press, marinate, then dehydrate tofu and it gives it some texture. It's now like 70% as good as throwing chicken or something into my rice, which is often good enough for me.

Any ideas or thoughts like that? I don't even know what most vegan's general diet entails. I've eaten at a local vegan place but the food, while delicious, was not exactly healthy.

  • Can you describe that? I feel like everyone says that about Canada, Europe, etc. But when I try to nail down what they are afraid of, they are like, "if I need a knee surgery I want it NOW! That could take months in Canada!"

Is it like that, or are there like actual life threatening problems being unaddressed?

  • Fsd makes a TON of mistakes. I've had the beta from the first public release. I don't trust it to do anything more than lane holding and cruise control, with maybe some supervised lane changes. But it's a beta. I understand that I am helping to test beta software.

FSD in its current form should not be given to everyone. Tesla had it right when they gave it only to proven drivers (okay, it would have been better to test with paid employees, but I digress).

FSD right now is like handing the keys to your 15 year old child and going to sleep in the back while they drive you home.

  • It takes me 28 hours to drive from South Florida to New Hampshire in my EV instead of 24 like Google says. That would probably be 25 hours with gas stops though. And it's actually kind of nice to get out and walk around while it's charging, especially since I bring my dog. Maybe other routes are worse for charging? I haven't had any issues.
