  • appreciate you doing the legwork for us 🌟

  • 5 bucks a month to a reputable VPN provider will get you access to more than you can ever watch.

  • Not open source, but qwant.com/maps leverages OSM data and makes things searchable.

  • It gave you a gigabyte of email storage which at the time was huge.

You're right, but for those who may not know the details or the impact at the time, Google was offering 500x more storage - at the free tier - than some of the competition - hotmail - who were charging people for just 10 MB of storage. This forced hotmail to increase its free tier to 250 MB and 2 GB for customers paying $20 USD/year.

  • Hate to break it to you but every site where people can talk to each other always comes with drama.

    Fixed it.

  • don't leave us hanging, what's your top 3?

  • appreciate the tip!

  • Click "Activities" in the upper right and search for "tweaks", click the "Tweaks" icon. Select "Keyboard & Mouse" and turn "Middle Click Paste" to "off".

For Gnome ^ but I'm at work and can't confirm.

  • I've gone back and my main feed is mostly posts about women asking for their "rating", weird af. don't miss it at all with lemmy and all the alternatives available.

  • X? The only "X" i recognize is DMX, R.I.P.

  • All good points but I'd like to point out that the first one is likely the biggest reason not to use it - it's based on Chromium and continues to give Google/Chrome the browser market share to dictate the direction of the web.

  • Anyone know of any good - maybe open source/federated - alternatives?

  • This is a nice surprise. Didn't even know this was in development. Can't wait to test it out!

  • I plan on making it available inside my own network, not public. This way if someone makes it past my security, I at least have something that might "catch" them in the act and disable my network so I can intervene. Just another security layer.

  • ooh portal looks awesome.

I've been using the wormhole.app site or wormhole-william version for when I'm able to use a CLI. Will need to try out Portal tho, looks shiny ✨

  • Just tried sending an 8GB file and it froze. Worked great to send a small image tho!

  • I think its just a current limitation of the app. Hopefully the feature gets added soon, there's a few minor issues that would make the app really great. It works for my home city but can't seem to find where I work, which is unfortunate.
