  • Oh so you're bad at using computers. Got it. I can have windows 11 without telemetry in 10 minutes and with a local user profile instead of a Microsoft account. This argument about what you were able to do and how long it took you doesn't make you look cool or smart. It makes you look like you have no idea what you're doing.

  • I do it every day for work. You must be doing something wrong.

  • An auction doesn't necessarily need to go with the highest bidder. Things can be sold to whoever the beneficiary of the sale decides. The families of Sandy Hook are taking less money than they would have otherwise by taking the Onion's bid and they are accepting of that fact that they will get less money as a result. The other outcome is Alex Jones buying his company back or some other company that may use the platform for more continued disinformation. The Onion is the only business that can give confidence that their platforms will continue to push Satire rather than spewing hatred into the world.

  • How often are you installing windows? I deploy probably 7-8 a week. I can have an image usable without telemetry in 10 minutes.

  • Just learn how to install windows the way you want it to be just like you learn the best way to install a distro. Debloated windows takes minutes to install and takes so little actual effort if you know what you're doing.

  • You're in the Linux memes sub. Linux users are the ultimate example of special knowledge PC users....

  • Build your installer with Rufus and bypass most of the Oobe. Then it's literally a few clicks. You can be at the windows 11 desktop in 10 minutes from USB boot if you know what you're doing. And if you argue that having to know what you're doing makes it harder.... Linux...

  • Most gaming PCs are pre built. Boutiques have been a business for decades. And every major PC OEM has a gaming division.pc building is niche.

  • Setting up a local user account only is easy. Shift+f10 to open command prompt and then run OOBE\BYPASSNRO and then you can run the setup with zero network requirements and zero account requirements.

  • Oobe\bypassnro

    Thank me later

  • Oh please, we spend an hour fucking around in a new Linux install to get things the way we like them too.

  • Nah, last time, Trump had entirely fired and hired a new staff by the end of the first year. Elon is too attention hungry and Trump won't like the spotlight taken off of him constantly. I'm fairly confident Elon will be one of the fastest staff members to be relieved of duty.

  • The modern porn industry is much more independent than it used to be. Most creators control and own their content and choose where it gets uploaded initially. In the past, the porn business was absolutely abusive to their stars but I think it's much less the case these days. Filmmakers have to fight for actors because if they don't treat them well or pay them their worth, they'll just post their own content directly to their fans. I'm sure there are still huge negatives but I just don't think it's as bad as it once was and I certainly don't think the porn industry is something to be upset about these days.

  • I think that's fine. The whole point of getting TSMC to start manufacturing in the US was to ensure that Taiwan wasn't the only place making the chips the world is using considering China has been actively threatening to take Taiwan back for decades. If TSMC can be sustainable in the US and other countries, even if Taiwan falls off the map, the technology is not China's alone. If I were TSMC, I would be trying to build plants in Australia and in Europe and South America to diversify and secure preservation should worse come to worst.

  • At the end of the day those roadblocks are just laws. Laws that he has been cleared to break as long as he does so under the pretense of an official act.

  • Her campaign was awful. Her whole deal was that she was going to do more of what Biden did. You know, the guy we didn't want to reelect so she stepped up to run? Also she pushed right the whole time. She gunned for centrist votes. She should have leaned into Walz's policy ideas on a broader scale. In fact, walz probably would have had a pretty good chance if he were the DNC candidate. She also campaigned in the strangest places. Why on earth did she rally in Houston? She could have gone anywhere in the swing states with the Beyonce performance but she went to a city that was already going to vote blue on a state that has a moonshot's chance to flip from red. She should have spent more time in GA, PA, and AZ. But hindsight is 2020.

  • Clearly not

  • Every election I've ever voted in has had at least a 20 minute wait. I've mostly lived in medium to high density population centers my whole life. I've voted on voting day, I voted by absentee and there was a line for the drop box during COVID, I just did my early voting as a first time Texas voter and there was a 45 minute line to use the voting machines, not even a pen and paper ballot. I've never not seen a line at the polls. It's always been strange to me thinking about the number of folks who DON'T vote vs how many people I personally witness voting every season. But then again, many people don't like standing out in a heat wave while it's raining so I guess it makes sense that a lot of them don't go.
