  • Probably not for everyone, but Facebook marketplace with local pickup is really good for some parts. YMMV

I was planning on buying an RX 6700XT from Newegg for $450ish, but instead managed to get a 6600 (non XT) for $80. I then found a 6700XT a month later for $300, bought it, and gave the 6600 to my cousin's kid.

I also bought a shitbox I turned into a Plex server for $75.

  • I think there is some balancing that can be done to prevent bad faith twitter users from claiming space in the larger instances. The day twitter goes down, maybe capping the number of new accounts created daily could be used to prevent ban avoidances and agitate them off the fediverse or into smaller instances.

Also, I think the current model of a fediverse will definitely have cesspools regardless of where the users came from. We do have loli and pedo instances unfortunately.

  • unsophisticated cyber attacks

Being this is a state sponsored attack, I was really expecting something meaningful like spoofing, identity exploits, or insider threats, but nope. It's literally just a group of "hackers" typing in the default password of a device and gaining minor remote access.

  • If you have decent hardware, running 'Oobabooga' locally seems to be the best way to achieve decent results. Not only can you remove the limitations through running uncensored models (wizardlm-uncensored), but can prompt the creation of more practical results by writing the first part of the AI's response.

  • I fully agree. Places like Montana also have quite a few indigenous nations within them that have their own public services and operations. So I'd argue it would impose an even greater imbalance of powers if there was one gigantic police force that all the other smaller independent police forces were required to work with.

I know as an American I'm propagandized towards believing that a proper balance of powers will "fix" things (as in the 3 branches of government), though in this case I believe it's true.

  • We do have them though. The US has State Troopers, regional and state Fire Marshalls, state owned healthcare agencies, state operated hospitals, and state operated EMS services.

    Here's a few examples:

    • New York State Police
    • California Highway Patrol
    • Florida State Fire Marshall's Office
    • Washington Department of Public Health
    • Patton State Hospital (run by California State)
    • Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services
  • I personally have gone the route of having a full resume that includes all the details of my employment history, and then I'll use that as a basis for creating a specialized 2-page resume for the job I'm after.

i.e. if I won't be working with animals then I won't put down employment at a dog groomers. If I won't be cleaning, then I won't write "custodian" on the 2-page resume. I do however leave anything that includes certification, management, or other merits. Or anything relevant to the job I'm applying for.

From there, I just adjust the dates to fill in long gaps between employment. I still leave a few weeks or months between job titles so if they ask during an interview, then I can go over the jobs not included in my resume and blab about "finding my true passion in employment" and all that other fake shit. I do not dream of labor.
