  • While I think it's important to have some sort of media bias understanding, I dislike the bot being the first (and sometimes only) comment on a post. Maybe it should be reserved only for posts that are garnering attention, and has a definitive media bias answer for (the no results comments are just damn annoying to see).

    It also has the knock-on effect of boosting the post higher in whichever sorting algorithm users are using. So it often feels artificially controlled whenever something has 100+ upvotes and less than 10 comments, knowing the first comment is always a bot. Like, would it be fair for me to have 10 bots that comment factual information of posts I personally like, just to boost their visibility?

  • There IS a full scale war going on. 31,000 confirmed dead Ukranian soldiers, and up to 120,000 dead Russian soldiers. We don't even have a good idea how many civilian deaths, but the total death toll could be as high as 500,000.

    And no, before you start - Mutually Assured Destruction isn't "a full scale war". Its Annihilation of both sides, and has no precedent in the history of war.

  • I think "modern game" is really a semantics thing tbh. Like, is Age of Empires 2 a modern game, old game, or ancient game? I think it really comes down to how you're playing the game, rather than the year of original release.

    Worms: Armageddon is another example. Is it an ancient game because of its release date, or is it a modern game because people are developing new rules and scripts to play the game by every year?

  • Mobilism is about as good as it gets afaik. Just use the same method as torrenting by only downloading from uploaders with a consistent history of good uploads.

    Spotify is pretty ominous on its own tbh, with its emotional surveillance and motion tracking now being implemented to sell to 3rd parties. I now get targeted with White Claw advertisements after putting on a sad playlist.

  • So you're telling me the software developed by Microsoft is being used on Linux platforms to convince manufacturers using Linux to use Linux instead of Microsoft because Microsoft systems are bad?? Make it make sense dawg.

  • Nvidia sells the hardware (shovels), but also develops portions of the software to make it run more efficiently, like OpenAI. Nobody else but Microsoft seems to be actually developing software, though AMD is slowly working towards having comparable performance.

    1. OpenAI struck gold, NVIDIA followed suit, and everyone else bought shovels hoping to get investors even though they have no plans on striking gold (developing useful AI).
