  • You make good points.

Requiring people to use their real name would take out a lot of the noise, the false and misleading info, and the unqualified opinions that people are blasting out into the ether, and then other people who don't know any better find it and feel with their ape brains that their own malformed opinions and emotions are validated.

I don't think this country used to be as insane as it is now. And I attribute the insanity to bad faith actors amplifying bad faith messaging on social media.

As to your last point, we are definitely not cognitively equipped for what we have. Can we equip ourselves now, after the fact?

  • We have the same tax law in America. Can't deduct clothing that you could wear for non work.

  • Nah, the internet has been great. It's the anonymity that's the problem. Everyone should just have one account. You could still post anonymously, but you can't get any clout for it. If you want to have clout, you have to have a name and it has to be your actual one.

  • Flawed democracy is still democracy.

  • Being outraged isn't an excuse to vote against your own interests and the interests of your community.

  • Call HR? I'd sue the company. No way they don't know this guy is weird as fuck. They just don't care. Let's see if a jury cares.

  • See that period after the first sentence with the squiggly line above it?

  • It's a good practice because you always have one nearby. One of the few things no one can ever take from you.

  • And in your view, that'd be a good thing?

Please tell me more about your humanitarianism.

  • You're both right by the way.

Israel can continue with or without America's help.

    You said it yourself.

America is the only reason Iran and other countries have not yet attacked Israel...

Iran is technologically and militarily inferior to Israel. An open war between Israel and Iran ends inevitably with the collapse of Iran as we know it. They only people in Iran who don't know that to be true beyond any doubt are insane religious nutters who aren't being objective. That's why Iran's direct, retaliatory responses have been so tepid and ineffective; first they shot down their own passenger airliner, then they spent billions on ballistic missiles and only killed two people, and one was Palestinian. Iran is fragile.

They're ike Mitch KcConnel or Liz Cheney, Mike Pence, they spent so much time and effort whipping up even crazier hardliners in order to stay in power (including Hamas, Houthis, and Hezzbollah) that now Iran risks being over taken by actual hardliners at the first chance, who might do something stupid like turn fissile material into a weapon or launch a ground invasion at Israel.

The general United States response in either of these scenarios is not much of a secret. You can read all about it if you like to read think tank material. The plan has two parts: Iran will not build a nuclear weapon no matter the cost, and an Iranian invasion force mobilizing on Israel will be met and utterly crushed by the 1,600,000 ground troops the Pentagon plans to send in this scenario. Iran knows all this.

That's why their direct retaliation has been so tepid, so incompetent and ineffective. First they got jumpy and shot down their own civilian airliner, then they spent billions on ballistic missiles and only killed two people, and one was Palestinian!

If the moderates in Israel start to think they might have a chance, nothing is left stopping Iran from building a nuclear weapon or invading Israel. In either case, remember, Israel is still a superior military force and will turn Tehran into a sheet of glass before one Iranian boot reaches Jerusalem.

Only obvious know nothings have hot takes on this that don't account for these realities.^^

In either path leading to the collapse of Iran, millions of innocent people will die and The world will be wishing we were back to the days it took a year to see 50,000 dead because then it will be likely be 50,000 every day. Going to make Netanyahu look like Ghandi.

The Iran Nuclear Deal was the world's last best chance at peaceful intervention. The only thing America can do now is make promises to Iran that we hope we don't have to keep and unfortunately, the Likud party in Israel has found a way to exploit that fact. Luckily, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, so something can be done about it.

  • None.

This isn't about taking the doctor's medical opinion over someone without a medical degree and practical experience. Read the doctor's own words. What he is saying does not follow or make logical sense.

A doctor cannot distinguish two bullet wounds as from rounds aimed and fired by a sniper or two rounds fired by a drunk with a pistol, or by two stray bullets, or even by one stray bullet, or even by one piece of shrapnel, if it's through and through. Do you not know about bullets?

The sniper doctor said in his own words that his opinion was based on what cannot be described as anything other than wild speculation.

  • Have you considered that your calculus might be wrong, just from a birdseye view?

99% of the people in Gaza managed to have avoided being killed in this indiscriminate and unmitigated bloodbath, waged with the whole-cloth support of the most powerful military ever to exist, which you are describing. How do you explain that?

  • Ridiculous quotes. The doctors in Gaza certainly have strong imaginations, that or magical powers.

Unfortunately, wild conjecture and speculation by people soliciting donations is not evidence.

  • Hamas rules Gaza by assassination and fear. They kill other Palestinians with guns and other things all the time. They shoot parents in front of their kids and vice verse to stay in power. The Iranian immamate and Qatari royals don't pay people to post about it online all day, though, so Al Jazeera doesn't write about it and Guardian doesn't retweet about it, and that's the truth of the matter. The evidence is staring you in the face.

Doesn't the idea of trained, uniformed soldiers, subject to a very robust, open legal system, as well as a military code of justice enforced by courts martial, sniping kids in the head for sport sound unbelievable? I posit that not only does it sound unbelievable, but that is actually is unbelievable; that if you were being rational, you should not and would not believe it.

No, no doctor anywhere in the world can determine the identity and motive of an individual from a bullet wound. This article's presumption to the contrary defies obvious logic and physics. Think about it for five seconds. Terminal ballistics has nothing to do with identifying the shooter or motive.

In no court of law in America would these doctors testimony be admitted as identification evidence or to explain motive, and you must know this to be true. Should read more critically, slow down.

  • 50,000 dead after one year is "not holding back?"

You sound hysterical, as you mou must know

  • They may be people who are opposed to the idea of a far-right, pan-islamist caliphate swallowing up the Middle East.
