I believe in cultural relativism, but I don't think it's an absolute. It only goes so far. It's just (like) my opinion (man), but anybody who reacts that way to an insult loses much more face or respect than a person who is big enough to have a measured and reasonable response, rather than taking months of a person's life as punishment for less than 30 seconds of speech.

I binged them all before Fury Road and it was a real whiplash to go from "All the houses are smashed up, there's bits of siding everywhere and everyone has guns" to "These people live their whole lives on stilts in a fetid swamp like some sort of crazy flamingo men, but that doesn't matter right now, keep driving". That's true, but their apathy or ignorance is a threat to any networked device. There's definitely an argument for "my device,y software, my rules", and technically you can run windows 7 as long as you want, but Valve shouldn't be perpetually expected to support deprecated software either. In their case specifically, if would be hard to ensure their anti-cheating software isn't being circumvented at the operating system level, meaning the experience of everyone on any OS would be lowered by continuing to support a 14 year old version of Windows.
It's ancient, unsupported, and closed source. Nobody can create or distribute security updates. People would have been happy to keep using horses and buggies if there'd been an automatic horse shit shoveller.
That's some shit, I'm sorry your starter-pack family had some real issues. You probably realized this at some point since then, but just in case you need to hear it, you should know that you're valid, and you matter, and you deserve to be included and to belong.
