I think the biggest thing about itunes is that it can be used to write music to iphones and do OS restores, I couldn't get the usb functionality to work with wine so I just use it in a vm personally
there should be a keepass+syncthing package available for normal people to use, i put keepass and syncthing on all my devices and that means I don't have to host a server while always having my password vault synced
lemmy already has a bunch of echo chambers, I think it's inevitable from the design of a network like this where the user selects what content to view and be served
i just run normal stuff like immich and a dns server and use it as a headless server, though I do have a backup terminal on the touchscreen in case I need it (fbkeyboard).
I don't think it has any real benefits except the touchscreen, very low power consumption and the built-in battery, I just use it because it's free and interesting.
I guess compared to other devices like the rpi it has pretty good performance and resources, though one big drawback is that I have to use wifi for networking.
It's just the use I found for my old phone that was sitting in the cupboard doing nothing.
I think Ubuntu has a lot of influence in industry
