  • I can see how you would get that impression, but it is false. NVIDIA drivers are mostly fine today. They used to be abysmal, and still under the hood don’t work like everyone wants them to. The do, however, work. And for the most part they work well. Wayland can be a bit buggy, but I’ve been using kde Wayland for over a year now on an older nvidia system and I have experienced one bug that was a minor inconvenience.

  • Well you would have to hire someone to do that, and it’s my understanding that teachers are mostly underpaid and understaffed, so to at a minimum double the number of teachers would be excessively costly, to the point where even imagining it is laughable.

Not that I don’t like the idea, it’s just not feasible.

  • Who do you propose else does it? Teachers know their students and can learn from tests etc and help them do better. additionally to the original argument, it’s not just grading that teachers have to do as well, also lesson/course planning, setup for lessons (eg slideshow/lab/printing). There’s just a lot for teachers to do outside of the classroom.

  • The three body problem series is absolutely the best sci fi book series I have ever read. Can’t recommend more. Just finished the last one the other day, and the third book is mind blowing. It was written by a Chinese author so it feels foreign to me as an American, and a lot of cultural differences are very apparent but the translation was masterfully done by the authors son so it stays very true to the original source.

  • The vast majority of American microchips are made in Taiwan at TSMC, if the people’s republic of china controlled this it would be devastating for the US and most western countries as china would have complete control over military chip production and likely would have access to American military secrets embedded in microchips produced there. It is of utmost importance to the entire western world that Taiwan maintains their self-government, whether or not it really is a part of china.

  • Hyperland is Wayland. X won’t work. You can however install wslg if you have a supported windows version, which uses Wayland and hence a hyperland session could be run. Keep in mind that you can’t replace the windows DE, so hyperland likely won’t run as well as you hope it will.

  • You could probably run such an algorithm locally by logging data locally then determining a type of video which could then be requested from the server. On top of that to get even more data privacy you could store the data collected for this as different numbers in a 3d array or other data structure and then use some form of math to determine what would be best based on that so any personally identifiable information will be really obfuscated and nearly impossible to use for anything other than the algorithm it’s designed to be used by. This would then allow users to not only fine tune their own personal algorithm parameters, but could open the door for allowing people to write their own algorithms or systems to do this.

might be a good idea for someone to make such a thing as TikTok has been getting closer and closer to getting banned in more and more places. There may very well be a twitter-like opportunity for someone with such an app to swoop in and gain some market share
